Manaslu Region Trekking
Shortly after leaving the Kathmandu Valley rim, there are magnificent views of the Himalchuli/Manaslu range, as well as the more distant Annapurna Peaks.
On the Manaslu Circuit Trek for the first few days, hikers can luxuriate in the warmth of the low riverside trail along the Budhi (Budi) Gandaki river, with its Hindu hill farmers and mule caravans. Higher up, mani walls, Kani gates, and shortens dot the trails. The geographical and geological transition to the arid uplands of the Tibetan plateau beyond Samagaon is astonishing. Beyond Samdo is the high, wild pass of the Larkya La, the highest point of the trek at 5160m. The fabulous panorama from the pass encompasses the beautiful massif of Cheo Himal and Larkya Peak, then as the descent begins, the giants of the Nar-Phu region-Himlung, Kang Guru, Nemjung and Annapurna II-come into view.
Part of the Manaslu region, the recently opened Tsum Valley Trek is magical and mysterious. The region was once so remote that almost nothing was known about it. This wild, rugged and exotic valley is located north of Ganesh Himal and just east of Manaslu. The landscapes and mountain vistas can only be described as superlative, as befits a Shangri-La of the Himalaya.
