The journey begins with a scenic drive from Kathmandu to Syabru Besi, a small village nestled in the Langtang region. The drive takes about 6-7 hours and provides stunning views of the Trishuli River and surrounding landscapes. Upon arrival, you’ll settle into a local guesthouse and rest for the night, preparing for the trek ahead.
On Day 2, you’ll begin your trek towards Gatlang, a beautiful Tamang village. The trek takes around 5-6 hours, passing through lush forests and terraced fields. You’ll have the opportunity to enjoy stunning views of Ganesh Himal and the surrounding valleys. Gatlang offers a chance to experience traditional Tamang culture and hospitality, with a warm welcome from the locals.
Today, the trek leads you from Gatlang to Tatopani, which takes around 6-7 hours. The trail descends through dense forests before ascending to Tatopani, a village known for its natural hot springs. After a long day of trekking, you can relax in the hot springs and soak in the therapeutic waters to rejuvenate your muscles.
On Day 4, the trek continues towards Thuman, a Tamang village that is about 4-5 hours away. The trail ascends gradually, offering views of the Langtang range and passes through traditional villages. Thuman is known for its cultural richness and the presence of Buddhist monasteries. Here, you will experience the warmth and hospitality of the local Tamang people.
The trek from Thuman to Briddim takes approximately 6-7 hours. You’ll traverse through pine forests, cross suspension bridges, and pass by several small villages, all the while enjoying panoramic views of the Langtang Range. Briddim is a scenic village that offers an authentic Tamang experience, where you can visit a Buddhist monastery and interact with the local people.
On Day 6, you’ll trek back to Syabru Besi, which takes about 5-6 hours. The return journey offers a chance to revisit the natural beauty of the region, passing through lush forests and enjoying more stunning views of the surrounding mountains. After arriving in Syabru Besi, you can relax and reflect on your incredible adventure.
On the final day, you’ll drive back from Syabru Besi to Kathmandu, which takes around 6-7 hours. The scenic drive offers one last opportunity to enjoy the beauty of the Langtang region. Upon reaching Kathmandu, you will be transferred to your hotel, where you can rest and share memories of your memorable journey through the Tamang Heritage Trek.
NOTE: If you return early from the trek due to illness or any other reason, costs for flights, hotels, meals, or any other incurred expenses in Kathmandu will not be refunded. You will need to cover these additional costs yourself.
The following information will give you some idea about what you need to bring for the trek. It is important you do not forget the essential items, as this will determine your comfort and safety on the trek. Equally important is that you do not burden yourself with unnecessary equipment on the trek.
Toiletries (tissues, toilet paper, moisturizer, lip balm, sunscreen, sanitary pads, hand sanitizer, nail clippers, a small mirror, toothbrush, toothpaste, glasses, contacts, etc.)
Three meals a day (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) are provided during the trek, ensuring you stay energized throughout your journey. Fresh fruit will be served every evening after dinner.
The trek includes Kathmandu to Syabrubesi and return transportation by local bus. This offers an authentic local experience and a comfortable ride to the starting point of your adventure.
You’ll stay in Trekking Lodges (Tea Houses) during the trek, offering basic but comfortable facilities. These lodges provide a warm and cozy atmosphere after a long day of trekking.
Your trek includes all necessary Langtang National Park Entry Permit and TIMS Card fees, ensuring a smooth trekking experience with all required documentation in place.
A highly experienced, English-speaking guide with a government license will accompany you. The trek also includes Sherpa porters to carry your luggage (one porter for two people).
Comprehensive first aid kit and medical supplies will be available throughout the trek. Additionally, an oxygen meter will be used to monitor your health (pulse, oxygen saturation, and heart rate) to detect any signs of Altitude Mountain Sickness (AMS).
In case of an emergency, we will arrange helicopter evacuation (paid by your travel insurance company), ensuring your safety during the trek.
After completing the trek successfully, you’ll receive a Trip Achievement Certificate to commemorate your accomplishment.
Use of sleeping bags, down jackets, duffel bags, and walking poles (if you don’t have your own) is included. These items must be returned at the end of the trek.
