Yala Peak at 5520 meters does not require technical skills to reach the summit. Nevertheless, it still requires stamina and a good level of fitness to reach the top from where you will have amazing panoramic views of the Langtang region. You can see as far as Mt. Sishapangma (8013m) in Tibet, the lowest of the fourteen 8000m plus peaks in the world. The views from the summit will certainly justify the effort it takes to reach the summit.
Trekking through the Langtang Valley in the Langtang National Park you will come across Tibetan style villages and be surrounded by massive snow-capped peaks. This trail passes close to the Tibetan border where Buddhism is the largest religion. You will have a chance to explore the famed pilgrimage retreat of the 700-year-old Kyanjin Gompa (Buddhist monastery) at 3900m. Kyanjin Gompa is located at the foot of the magnificent Langtang Lirung Mountain (7246m) and not far from Langshisha Glacier. This trek is said to have some of the best scenery of any trek in Nepal. It is also isolated and separated from the outside world, a magical place and home to the discreet snow leopard, red panda, Tahr, Langur monkeys, Himalayan black bear and a splendid assortment of natural fauna, including 30 varieties of red, pink and white flowering Rhododendron – Nepal’s national flower. Along the trail you will see villagers carrying heavy loads and the ubiquitous Yaks grazing in high altitude pastures.
Before heading to Yala Peak we will spend time acclimatizing before heading higher. On reaching the summit there are breathtaking panoramic views of: Ganesh Himal, Langtang Lirung (7227m), Lenpo Gang (7083m), Dorje Lhakpa (6966m), Naya Kang (5844m), Gangchempo (6387m) and Shishapangma (8013m) that lies wholly in Tibet.
Due to its seclusion, there are far less trekkers than the Annapurna or the Khumbu regions of Nepal. The hush and peacefulness has a calming effect on you and will leave you with memories to last you a lifetime.
Welcome to Kathmandu, a city full of vibrant markets, bustling streets, colorful temples and grand pagodas. Our guide will meet you at the airport and take you to our hotel. The remainder of the day you will have an opportunity to familiarize yourself with the shopping areas closest to your hotel and catch up on shopping for equipment. In the evening, our tour guide will give you a brief introduction and provide valuable information about the trek.
Today we have an early start and drive out of Kathmandu Valley heading north, passing rivers, forest, cultivated terraced farms, and through small villages along the way. Depending on the weather we can often glimpse far off snow-covered mountains. After we reach Trishuli Bazaar the road is rough and undulating before reaching our overnight destination of the bazaar town of Syabrubesi that boasts of having a hot spring – a perfect place to wash away the dust!
Today we trek for five to six hours before reaching Thulo Syabru where we stay overnight.
The trail today leads to the Lama Hotel, ascending higher as we get closer. We will stay here the night.
The trail today takes us through the dense sub-tropical landscapes and heads higher from the river. We eventually reach the picturesque village of Langtang where we will stay the night.
Today we follow the trail through several small villages and past grazing land in the valley. We cross a number of small rivers and across a moraine and then reach Kyanjin Gompa where we will stay overnight. We should arrive in the early afternoon.
We have time to explore and visit the ancient monastery or alternatively trek up the hills above the village for even greater views of the surrounding mountains. You may wish to trek up to LangshisaKharka or Kyanjin Ri (4773m) where you will have spectacular views over the mountains and valley.
We have a four to five-hour trek today to Yala Peak Base Camp crossing over rocky terrain until reaching our destination where the views will take your breath away. We can see Gangchempo, Naya Kang, Tserko Ri (5033m), and Yala Peak. Your guide will instruct you on some simple climbing techniques prior to climbing the Yala peak tomorrow.
We have a hard day ahead of us today of about six hours ascending to the peak. Ideally we should reach the peak around lunchtime and be blessed with panoramic views of Shishapangma, Dorje Lakpa, Gangchempo, Naya Kang, Tserko Ri and Langtang Lirung. This is a marvelous photo opportunity and after some time to rest we will head down to base camp and on to Kyanjin Gompa for the night.
After leaving Kyanjin Gomba we descend down through the valley and follow the trail back to the Lama Hotel where we will stay the night. On the trek back we pass by the police checkpoint at Ghora Tabela where we show our permit.
We have a six to seven-hour trek today heading down through birch and bamboo forests along the banks of the Langtang River as we follow the valley. On the trail we have to cross the Langtang, Bhote Kosi and Syabru Bensi rivers. We will spend our last night here.
An early start to the day has us heading back to Kathmandu following the pretty Trishuli River Valley and with great views over fields and lush forest, along with some farewell views of the mountains.
Sherpa Expeditions & Trekking staff will transfer you to the airport for your final departure from Nepal. We hope that this epic trek will be firmly ingrained in your memory and will be enough to prompt you to consider your next trek with us!
You will be carrying all of your gear and share some of the cluster gear. Keeping your pack light is important, so choose light-weight clothing and equipment. Be sure to have a range of clothing suitable for all conditions. Sudden change of weather may require layering of clothing. Three layers will meet your needs. Avoid cotton or fabrics that do not maintain heat when cold. Comfortable durable wool (or proven fabrics) that breathe and expel sweat lends itself to an additional pleasant experience!'
We will offer complimentary water and a windproof duffle that you'll use on the trek - carried by porters. The duffle is yours to keep once at the end of the trek. You can safely leave your bag, together with your non-trekking requirements, at our office in Katmandu and collect them upon your return.
All equipment, such as base camp tents, room accessories, climbing rope, ice screws, snow bar and ice hammer is provided by Sherpa Expedition & Trekking.
It is important to invest in high-quality gear and ensure that everything fits properly and is in good condition. Additionally, consult with experienced climbers or a professional guide to ensure you have all the necessary gear and receive proper training on how to use it effectively and safely.
