TUKUCHE PEAK CLIMBING

Only plains fly higher! Try this for size – the highest of the 6000m plus peaks!

This is a real climbing experience requiring a good level of fitness and a positive can-do attitude. Tukuche Peak is a 6920-meter peak situated in western Nepal in the rugged and isolated Mustang region between the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri Ranges, not far from the Kali Gandaki Gorge – the world’s deepest. At the summit you can expect to see Dhaulagiri I (8167m), Dhaulagiri II (7751m), Dhaulagiri III (7715m), Dhaulagiri V (7618m), Annapurna I (8091m), Annapurna South (7219m), Nilgiri North (7061m) and many other snow-covered peaks.  Tukuche Peak is a pyramid-shaped mountain that will satisfy your spirit of adventure.

The trek begins at Beni and progresses from Beni to Tatopani (1190m), Ghasa (2010m), Tukuche Gaon (2590m), Marpha (2670m) and on to Yak Kharka (3680m) where we will stop to acclimatize. From Yak Kharka we head higher to Tukuche Base Camp (5150m) and ultimately to Tukuche Peak (6920m) before heading back to Marpha (2670m) and on to Pokhara. We have allowed 7 days to prepare and climb to the summit. It may be that weather conditions or altitude sickness delay our climb.

Before reaching the climbing part of the expedition we will trek through the deepest gorge in the world – Kali Gandaki. This is an adventure in itself. We will take a dip in the thermal pools at Tatopani and trek through misty valleys, past amazing terraced fields and see numerous authentic and culturally unique villages. This is another world where time appears to have stood still. Yaks and goats graze on hilly pastures while villagers pass you with a smile while carrying heavy loads secured by straps on their heads.

Sherpa Expedition and Trekking take care of everything, from permits, fees, and all accommodation along the trail. Your safety and enjoyment are always our main concern. After more than 40 years in the trekking and climbing business, we understand the difference between a good experience and a great experience. Our reputation speaks for itself.
