ANNAPURNA CIRCUIT WITH TILICHO LAKE TREK 19 DAYS

The 19-day Annapurna Circuit with Tilicho Lake Trek is an extraordinary adventure that takes you through the breathtaking landscapes of the Annapurna region. Your journey begins with your arrival in Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal. The following day, you'll board a local bus and drive to Jagat, the starting point of the trek. From there, you will hike through picturesque villages and dense forests, gradually ascending to Dharapani, Chame, Pisang, and Manang, where you’ll take a rest day to acclimatize to the altitude.

After acclimatization, the trek continues to Shree Kharka, followed by the challenging but rewarding climb to Tilicho Base Camp. You will then visit Tilicho Lake, the highest lake in the world at an altitude of 4,919 meters, offering stunning views of the surrounding mountains. After enjoying the beauty of Tilicho Lake, you'll descend to Shree Kharka, and continue the trek through Yak Kharka, Thorong Phedi, and finally, the highlight of the trek—crossing the Thorong La Pass at 5,416 meters, one of the highest trekking passes in the world.

Descending from the pass, you will reach Muktinath, where you can visit the sacred Muktinath Temple. The journey then takes you to Marpha, a traditional village known for its apple orchards, and Jomsom. The next day, you’ll take a local bus to Tatopani, where you can relax in the natural hot springs. Afterward, the trek continues to Ghorepani, where you'll hike up to Poon Hill to witness a spectacular sunrise over the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri mountain ranges.

From Poon Hill, you will trek down to Nayapul, and then drive to Pokhara, a charming lakeside city. On the final day, you will return to Kathmandu by tourist bus, where the Sherpa Expedition team will transfer you to the airport for your departure.

Day 1 : Arrival in Kathmandu and Transfer to Hotel.

Arrive in Kathmandu, Nepal's vibrant capital, and transfer to your hotel. You will be greeted by a representative from your trekking company who will brief you about the upcoming trek. The rest of the day is free for you to relax and explore the local area, perhaps visit a nearby market or café. In the evening, enjoy a delicious dinner at a traditional Nepali restaurant, where you can experience local flavors.

Day 2 : Drive from Kathmandu to Syange/Jagat (1,130m) via Besishahar – Duration: 8-9 hours.

After an early breakfast, you will embark on a scenic drive from Kathmandu to Syange or Jagat. The journey takes approximately 8-9 hours, passing through Besishahar, the main entry point to the Annapurna Circuit. As you drive, you’ll witness the beauty of Nepal’s rural landscape, including terraced fields, small villages, and cascading rivers. The road gradually climbs, offering stunning views of the surrounding hills and mountains as you get closer to your trekking destination.

Day 3 : Trek from Syange/Jagat to Dharapani (1,860m) – Duration: 5-6 hours.

Your trek begins from Syange or Jagat, where you will walk along a well-maintained trail through terraced fields and lush forests. As you continue, you’ll cross small rivers and suspension bridges. The route is fairly gradual, taking you through traditional villages where you can experience the local way of life. After about 5-6 hours of trekking, you’ll arrive in Dharapani, a quaint village nestled at the foot of the Annapurnas. Here, you will stay overnight and enjoy your first taste of life in the mountains.

Day 4 : Trek from Dharapani to Chame (2,650m) – Duration: 5-6 hours.

From Dharapani, the trail ascends more steeply through pine forests, with breathtaking views of the Lamjung Himal and Annapurna II towering in the distance. The path meanders through rocky terrain and small rivers, eventually bringing you to Chame, the administrative center of the Manang district. The village is known for its stunning views of the surrounding peaks and is a popular stop for trekkers. After a day’s walk of about 5-6 hours, you’ll rest in Chame, surrounded by the natural beauty of the Annapurna range.

Day 5 : Trek from Chame to Pisang (3,300m) – Duration: 5-6 hours.

Today’s trek takes you from Chame to Pisang, a village that offers amazing views of the Annapurna II and Pisang Peak. The trail begins with a gentle ascent through forests, passing by the small village of Bhratang. As you continue, the landscape opens up, providing expansive views of the surrounding peaks and valleys. You will hike for about 5-6 hours before reaching Pisang, which sits at the base of the dramatic Pisang Peak. It’s a peaceful village, offering a great spot to rest and enjoy the views.

Day 6 : Trek from Pisang to Manang (3,500m) via Ngawal – Duration: 6-7 hours.

Today’s trek is more challenging as you head towards Manang, the largest village in the region. The route takes you through the village of Ngawal, known for its ancient Buddhist monasteries and traditional stone houses. As you climb higher, you’ll start to notice the changing landscape, with the surroundings becoming more arid and mountainous. After 6-7 hours of trekking, you will reach Manang, located at an altitude of 3,500 meters. Manang is a bustling village that serves as a hub for trekkers, offering spectacular views of Gangapurna and Annapurna III.

Day 7 : Exploration and Acclimatization Day at Manang.

Since you are now above 3,500 meters, it’s important to take a rest day to allow your body to acclimatize to the altitude. Today, you can explore Manang at your own pace, take a short hike around the village, or visit the Himalayan Rescue Association clinic to learn more about altitude sickness prevention. The day is also an excellent opportunity to interact with local people and immerse yourself in the culture of the region. You’ll stay overnight in Manang to ensure proper acclimatization before continuing your trek.

Day 8 : Trek from Manang to Siri Kharka (4,060m) – Duration: 4-5 hours.

After a restful day in Manang, you’ll begin trekking to Siri Kharka, a small settlement located at 4,060 meters. The route from Manang is relatively short, but the altitude gain is significant. The trail climbs gently through alpine meadows and juniper forests. Along the way, you’ll pass a few isolated teahouses, where you can stop for a break and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. After about 4-5 hours, you’ll reach Siri Kharka, where you’ll settle in for the night. The view from here is simply breathtaking, with towering peaks and lush valleys below.

Day 9 : Trek from Siri Kharka to Tilicho Base Camp (4,140m) – Duration: 5-6 hours.

The trek today takes you closer to your goal, Tilicho Lake. From Siri Kharka, the trail heads up into a more rugged terrain, passing through rocky slopes and high-altitude meadows. After about 5-6 hours of trekking, you will arrive at Tilicho Base Camp, nestled at an altitude of 4,140 meters. The area offers awe-inspiring views of the surrounding peaks, including Tilicho Peak. You will spend the night here in preparation for your visit to the lake.

Today, you will leave Siri Kharka and head towards Yak Kharka. The trail follows a gradual ascent through alpine meadows and barren landscapes. From Yak Kharka, the trail continues to Thorong Phedi (or High Camp), the final stop before crossing the Thorong La Pass. The route becomes steeper, and you’ll feel the thinning air as you ascend. The trek takes approximately 4-5 hours, with the last section becoming more challenging as you approach the higher altitude. At Phedi or High Camp, you’ll spend the night and prepare for the big day ahead, crossing Thorong La Pass tomorrow.
