The 19-day Annapurna Circuit with Tilicho Lake Trek is an extraordinary adventure that takes you through the breathtaking landscapes of the Annapurna region. Your journey begins with your arrival in Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal. The following day, you'll board a local bus and drive to Jagat, the starting point of the trek. From there, you will hike through picturesque villages and dense forests, gradually ascending to Dharapani, Chame, Pisang, and Manang, where you’ll take a rest day to acclimatize to the altitude.
After acclimatization, the trek continues to Shree Kharka, followed by the challenging but rewarding climb to Tilicho Base Camp. You will then visit Tilicho Lake, the highest lake in the world at an altitude of 4,919 meters, offering stunning views of the surrounding mountains. After enjoying the beauty of Tilicho Lake, you'll descend to Shree Kharka, and continue the trek through Yak Kharka, Thorong Phedi, and finally, the highlight of the trek—crossing the Thorong La Pass at 5,416 meters, one of the highest trekking passes in the world.
Descending from the pass, you will reach Muktinath, where you can visit the sacred Muktinath Temple. The journey then takes you to Marpha, a traditional village known for its apple orchards, and Jomsom. The next day, you’ll take a local bus to Tatopani, where you can relax in the natural hot springs. Afterward, the trek continues to Ghorepani, where you'll hike up to Poon Hill to witness a spectacular sunrise over the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri mountain ranges.
From Poon Hill, you will trek down to Nayapul, and then drive to Pokhara, a charming lakeside city. On the final day, you will return to Kathmandu by tourist bus, where the Sherpa Expedition team will transfer you to the airport for your departure.
Arrive in Kathmandu, Nepal's vibrant capital, and transfer to your hotel. You will be greeted by a representative from your trekking company who will brief you about the upcoming trek. The rest of the day is free for you to relax and explore the local area, perhaps visit a nearby market or café. In the evening, enjoy a delicious dinner at a traditional Nepali restaurant, where you can experience local flavors.
After an early breakfast, you will embark on a scenic drive from Kathmandu to Syange or Jagat. The journey takes approximately 8-9 hours, passing through Besishahar, the main entry point to the Annapurna Circuit. As you drive, you’ll witness the beauty of Nepal’s rural landscape, including terraced fields, small villages, and cascading rivers. The road gradually climbs, offering stunning views of the surrounding hills and mountains as you get closer to your trekking destination.
Your trek begins from Syange or Jagat, where you will walk along a well-maintained trail through terraced fields and lush forests. As you continue, you’ll cross small rivers and suspension bridges. The route is fairly gradual, taking you through traditional villages where you can experience the local way of life. After about 5-6 hours of trekking, you’ll arrive in Dharapani, a quaint village nestled at the foot of the Annapurnas. Here, you will stay overnight and enjoy your first taste of life in the mountains.
From Dharapani, the trail ascends more steeply through pine forests, with breathtaking views of the Lamjung Himal and Annapurna II towering in the distance. The path meanders through rocky terrain and small rivers, eventually bringing you to Chame, the administrative center of the Manang district. The village is known for its stunning views of the surrounding peaks and is a popular stop for trekkers. After a day’s walk of about 5-6 hours, you’ll rest in Chame, surrounded by the natural beauty of the Annapurna range.
Today’s trek takes you from Chame to Pisang, a village that offers amazing views of the Annapurna II and Pisang Peak. The trail begins with a gentle ascent through forests, passing by the small village of Bhratang. As you continue, the landscape opens up, providing expansive views of the surrounding peaks and valleys. You will hike for about 5-6 hours before reaching Pisang, which sits at the base of the dramatic Pisang Peak. It’s a peaceful village, offering a great spot to rest and enjoy the views.
Today’s trek is more challenging as you head towards Manang, the largest village in the region. The route takes you through the village of Ngawal, known for its ancient Buddhist monasteries and traditional stone houses. As you climb higher, you’ll start to notice the changing landscape, with the surroundings becoming more arid and mountainous. After 6-7 hours of trekking, you will reach Manang, located at an altitude of 3,500 meters. Manang is a bustling village that serves as a hub for trekkers, offering spectacular views of Gangapurna and Annapurna III.
Since you are now above 3,500 meters, it’s important to take a rest day to allow your body to acclimatize to the altitude. Today, you can explore Manang at your own pace, take a short hike around the village, or visit the Himalayan Rescue Association clinic to learn more about altitude sickness prevention. The day is also an excellent opportunity to interact with local people and immerse yourself in the culture of the region. You’ll stay overnight in Manang to ensure proper acclimatization before continuing your trek.
After a restful day in Manang, you’ll begin trekking to Siri Kharka, a small settlement located at 4,060 meters. The route from Manang is relatively short, but the altitude gain is significant. The trail climbs gently through alpine meadows and juniper forests. Along the way, you’ll pass a few isolated teahouses, where you can stop for a break and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. After about 4-5 hours, you’ll reach Siri Kharka, where you’ll settle in for the night. The view from here is simply breathtaking, with towering peaks and lush valleys below.
The trek today takes you closer to your goal, Tilicho Lake. From Siri Kharka, the trail heads up into a more rugged terrain, passing through rocky slopes and high-altitude meadows. After about 5-6 hours of trekking, you will arrive at Tilicho Base Camp, nestled at an altitude of 4,140 meters. The area offers awe-inspiring views of the surrounding peaks, including Tilicho Peak. You will spend the night here in preparation for your visit to the lake.

The stunning blue waters of the lake are surrounded by snow-capped peaks, creating a surreal and majestic atmosphere. After taking in the views and enjoying the area, you’ll descend back to Siri Kharka for the night, retracing your steps along the rugged terrain.
Today, you will leave Siri Kharka and head towards Yak Kharka. The trail follows a gradual ascent through alpine meadows and barren landscapes. The area around Yak Kharka is known for its high-altitude pastures, where you may spot yaks grazing. After approximately 4-5 hours of trekking, you will reach this small settlement, which is often used as a rest point for trekkers on their way to higher altitudes. The views of the surrounding peaks, including Gangapurna and Annapurna III, are stunning, making it an ideal spot for the night.
From Yak Kharka, the trail continues to Thorong Phedi (or High Camp), the final stop before crossing the Thorong La Pass. The route becomes steeper, and you’ll feel the thinning air as you ascend. The trek takes approximately 4-5 hours, with the last section becoming more challenging as you approach the higher altitude. At Phedi or High Camp, you’ll spend the night and prepare for the big day ahead, crossing Thorong La Pass tomorrow. The views of the surrounding mountains grow increasingly spectacular as you near your destination.
This is one of the most exhilarating and challenging days of the trek. Starting very early, you will make the ascent to Thorong La Pass, which sits at an impressive altitude of 5,416 meters. The trail is steep but offers magnificent views of the Kali Gandaki Gorge and surrounding peaks. After 8-9 hours of trekking, you will reach Muktinath, a sacred pilgrimage site for both Hindus and Buddhists. Here, you’ll visit the Muktinath Temple, an important spiritual destination, and take in the serene atmosphere of the area.
Today, you will descend from Muktinath to Marpha, a charming village known for its apple orchards and traditional stone houses. You will pass through Jomsom, the district headquarters of Mustang, and then continue on the trail that follows the Kali Gandaki River. The trek from Muktinath to Marpha takes about 5-6 hours and offers great views of the surrounding landscape, including the Dhaulagiri and Annapurna ranges. Marpha is a peaceful village with narrow alleys and beautiful whitewashed houses, where you’ll spend the night.
After a restful night in Marpha, you will take a scenic drive to Tatopani. The drive takes around 5-6 hours, passing through winding roads along the Kali Gandaki River, offering beautiful views of the river valley and surrounding peaks. Upon arrival in Tatopani, you’ll have time to relax in the natural hot springs that the area is famous for. The hot springs provide the perfect opportunity to soothe your muscles and recover from the long days of trekking.
Today, you’ll start trekking from Tatopani to Ghorepani, a popular village that offers stunning views of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri mountain ranges. The trek will take about 7-8 hours as you ascend through lush forests, cross suspension bridges, and pass through several small villages. As you get closer to Ghorepani, the views of the towering peaks become more dramatic. Ghorepani is a charming village and an ideal spot to rest before the next day's early morning hike to Poon Hill.
An early morning start is required today to hike up to Poon Hill, renowned for offering one of the best sunrise views in the world. The Poon Hill viewpoint at 3,210 meters provides a panoramic view of the Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, and Machapuchare peaks, bathed in the golden light of the sunrise. After the sunrise, you will trek down to Nayapul, and then drive to Pokhara, a picturesque lakeside city, where you can relax, enjoy the tranquil setting, and explore the local sights. The drive takes about 1-2 hours, and you’ll be able to rest in Pokhara after a long and rewarding trek.
After enjoying a restful night in Pokhara, you will drive back to Kathmandu via a tourist bus. The drive takes around 6-7 hours, providing an opportunity to enjoy the changing landscapes as you make your way back to the capital. Once in Kathmandu, you can enjoy your last evening in Nepal, perhaps shopping for souvenirs or visiting some of the historical sites you may have missed at the start of your trip.

My Annapurna Base Camp trek with Sherpa Expedition was the best decision I’ve made for travel in years. Everything was organized with precision, and our guide Dorchi truly made the journey memorable. He was friendly, highly experienced, and very responsive to our needs throughout the trek. His guidance on altitude management and pacing helped us avoid any health issues. The landscapes changed daily—from lush green valleys to snow-covered ridges—and Dorchi always stopped to let us absorb the views or share a story about the area. The local insight he offered brought the trek to life. Sherpa Expedition arranged everything seamlessly: flights, accommodations, meals, and permits. The tea houses along the trail were clean and comfortable, and food was plentiful. I appreciated the daily briefings and flexibility based on our group’s energy. Standing at Annapurna Base Camp surrounded by snow-capped peaks felt surreal. I’ve done other treks before, but the care and local connection Sherpa Expedition offers is unmatched. If you’re planning this trek, book with them and request Dorchi—you’ll be in excellent hands.
The Annapurna Base Camp trek with Sherpa Expedition was absolutely life-changing. From the first email inquiry to our return to Kathmandu, everything was managed with care. I was especially impressed by our guide, Tandin, who was thoughtful, funny, and incredibly organized. Tandin made the trek enjoyable even during the tougher climbs. He always checked on our health, explained the route, and kept the atmosphere light with great stories. His knowledge of the region and local culture enriched every step of the journey. Sherpa Expedition provided excellent accommodations and food throughout the trek. The tea houses were cozy, and we had delicious meals after long hiking days. Even the little details like wake-up tea and hot water bottles were appreciated. The beauty of the trail was beyond words—cascading waterfalls, forests filled with blooming rhododendrons, and breathtaking mountain views. The moment we reached Annapurna Base Camp under clear skies will forever stay with me. Tandin and Sherpa Expedition created the perfect balance of professionalism and warmth. I highly recommend them to anyone dreaming of the Himalayas.
As a solo traveler, I was a bit nervous about trekking in Nepal—but Sherpa Expedition made everything smooth and safe. From my first contact, they were responsive and helpful. The actual trek was beyond anything I could’ve imagined, and our guide Karma Dorje made it exceptional. He was extremely knowledgeable, calm under pressure, and very personable. Karma Dorje paced the trek perfectly and gave excellent advice about hydration and altitude. His respect for the mountains and his culture made a deep impression on me. The views were extraordinary—lush valleys, high ridges, and then the snowy amphitheater at base camp. We got lucky with weather and had a clear sunrise at ABC. Sherpa Expedition handled every logistical detail perfectly—flights, transportation, and even down jackets if needed. This was more than a trek; it was a life experience. I left with new friends, new perspectives, and a deep respect for the mountains and the people who live there. If you're considering this trek, go with Sherpa Expedition and ask for Karma Dorje. You’ll be taken care of like family.
