Designed by Sherpa Expedition & Trekking, this trek allows trekkers to explore the diverse Annapurna region in depth, experiencing everything from lush forests and terraced fields to high-altitude deserts.

The adventure begins with a scenic drive from Pokhara to Besisahar, and then a shared jeep ride to Dharapani, marking the start of your trek. As you ascend through picturesque villages and dense forests, you'll witness the transition from subtropical climates to alpine terrain, with ever-present views of towering peaks.

On the first leg of the trek, you’ll reach Chame, a charming village surrounded by majestic mountains, where you’ll rest for the night before continuing towards Upper Pisang. Here, the views of the Annapurna range become even more breathtaking, offering panoramic vistas of Annapurna II, Annapurna III, and Lamjung Himal.

The trek continues towards Manang, passing through Ngawal Village, where the traditional Tibetan-style houses and stunning scenery offer a glimpse into the local culture. Upon reaching Manang, you’ll spend a day acclimatizing to the increasing altitude, ensuring your body adjusts to the high elevations. This day can be used to hike to Lama Cave or the beautiful Ice Lake, both of which offer rewarding views.

After acclimatization, the trek moves towards Yak Kharka and Thorong Phedi, where you’ll rest and prepare for the demanding ascent to Thorong La Pass, the highest point of the trek at 5,416 meters. Crossing this pass is one of the highlights of the journey, offering spectacular views of the surrounding peaks. The descent leads to Muktinath, a sacred pilgrimage site revered by Hindus and Buddhists alike.

Following the spiritual visit to Muktinath, you’ll take a bus to Tatopani, known for its natural hot springs, offering the perfect opportunity to relax and soothe your muscles. The trek then continues to Ghorepani, with a sunrise hike to Poon Hill, renowned for its panoramic views of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges.

On the final day, after soaking in the beauty of Poon Hill at sunrise, you'll trek down to Nayapul and take a drive back to Pokhara, bringing an end to this unforgettable adventure. GOOD TO KNOW

Good to Know 🏞️

Before embarking on the Annapurna Circuit Trek, there are several important details and tips to keep in mind that will enhance your trekking experience. Whether you are a first-time trekker or an experienced adventurer, being well-prepared ensures you enjoy the journey safely and comfortably. Here’s everything you need to know for a successful trek:

Altitude & Acclimatization

The Annapurna Circuit takes you to high altitudes, with Thorong La Pass standing at 5,416 meters. Acclimatization is crucial to avoid altitude sickness. Make sure to take rest days in places like Manang to help your body adjust to the elevation.

Weather & Best Time to Trek

The best time to trek is during the spring (March-May) and autumn (September-November) months. During these periods, the weather is most stable, and you'll enjoy clear skies and warm temperatures, especially in the lower elevations. Winters can be harsh, with snow blocking passes, and summer can be rainy, making trekking challenging.

Packing Essentials

Pack light but prepare for a variety of conditions. Essentials include warm clothing for high altitudes, a good-quality sleeping bag, sturdy trekking boots, and a rain jacket. Don’t forget your sun protection gear—sunscreen, sunglasses, and a hat. A good water bottle and purification tablets are also important.

Fitness Level

The Annapurna Circuit is a challenging trek, with long days of hiking, significant altitude gains, and rough terrain. Prior fitness training is recommended to prepare your body for the physical demands of the trek.

Permits and Documentation

You'll need two permits: the Annapurna Conservation Area Permit (ACAP) and the Trekkers' Information Management System (TIMS) card. These can be obtained in Pokhara or Kathmandu before starting your trek.

Cultural Sensitivity

The Annapurna region is home to diverse ethnic groups, including the Gurung, Magar, and Thakali. Be respectful of their traditions, dress modestly, and ask for permission before photographing people. Always greet locals with a friendly smile and a traditional Namaste.

Hydration & Food

Drink plenty of water to stay hydrated and prevent altitude sickness. Water purification methods like iodine or a water filter are often used by trekkers. In terms of food, you'll find a variety of guesthouses along the trail offering dal bhat (lentil soup with rice), momo (dumplings), and other local and international dishes.

Local Transportation

Local buses, jeeps, and porters are available to help with transportation along the route. Jeep rides are especially common for the drive between Pokhara and Dharapani, and buses can take you from the trailhead to Pokhara after the trek.

Being informed about these key aspects will ensure you have a smooth and memorable experience as you trek through the awe-inspiring Annapurna Circuit.
