Itinerary
A representative from Sherpa Expedition & Trekking will meet you at Kathmandu Tribhuvan International Airport and drive you to your hotel. Our representative will provide you with a route map and other useful information, such as lodges where we stay and some do’s and don’ts.
A long drive will take us to where our trekking begins. This is an opportune time to sit back, relax, and take in the sights of the changing countryside; rivers, terraced rice fields and views of the stunning Himalayas. Tonight we will stay at a guesthouse with all meals included.
From Dharapani we continue to the village of Danaque before climbing to Tamang Village (unique stone houses and slate roofs) where we are offered magnificent views of Manaslu (8163m), Annapurna and other towering peaks. Our trek takes us through several Tibetan villages, such as trek Thanchowk, Koto before reaching our destination, Chame. Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner Included.
After leaving Chame we head to the village of Telekhu and on the trail have some magnificent views of the Annapurna Ranges and Mt. Pisang (6091m). Further along the trail, we have to re-cross a suspension bridge to the south side of the Marsyangdi River and then ascend and pass through a pine forest and into the upper reaches of the Manang Valley before coming to Pisang.
Pisang is the beginning of our trek into the upper Manang area. Today we follow a trail to Braga; a Tibetan village with its unique architecture and houses constructed one upon the other. One of Manang’s main attractions is its Gompa (Buddhist temple), being the biggest in the Manang region. Manang is also very popular with trekkers who stay here in order to acclimatize before heading higher.
Medical professionals recommend that before heading to higher elevations that trekkers spend some time acclimatizing. They also recommend staying active. Today we will climb up to Khangsar (3756m) as a way to further help us acclimatize. Overnight stay at Manang. Breakfast, lunch & dinner included.
Leaving Manang we pass the village of Khangsar, an unusual village with its unique houses (stone) and culture. The trail follows the ridge before it reaches Khangsar (3734m). The village offers a rare view of the obscure Kang Guru Peak (6981m).
Today we climb higher toward Tilicho Lake, around 5 to 6-hour trek, located at the base of Tilicho Peak (7134m). Along the trail, you may see yaks and deer grazing. The changing light causes the color of the lake to change through many shades of blue. After some time admiring the lake and surrounding peaks and snapping some photos we will return to Sri Kharka. It covers an area of 4.8 sqkm. Guesthouse accommodation. Breakfast, lunch & dinner included.
Today we begin our trek descending to Khangsar Village today passing through Tare Gumba (3870m) known for its monastery. We follow the Thorong Khola Valley until we reach the abandoned village of Old Khangsar before reaching our destination Yak Kharka then after 3 hour walk to reach Thorong Phedi. Guesthouse accommodation. Breakfast, lunch & dinner included.
Today is most likely the toughest day of the trek, hiking for around 7-8 hours. The higher altitude contributes to the degree of difficulty, and sometimes strong winds in these upper regions. Along the trail we may pass sheep, yaks and merchants transporting their goods. Once we reach Thorong La Pass we will be rewarded with breath-taking views of Annapurna, Gangapurna and eye-catching peak of Khatungkang (6484m). Leaving the pass we descend around 1600 metres and the brilliant Dhaulagiri (Dhavali giri, meaning “White Mountain”) is the highest mountain that is entirely in Nepal. The trail is more undulating and relatively easy before we reach Muktinath where we stay the night after a 10 hour trek. Breakfast, lunch & dinner included.
Our day begins in the morning with a Bus ride to Tatopani that should take us about 5-6 hours. At Jomsom, there is an Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP) checkpoint. At Jomsom, we take continue bus drive to Ghasa Village via several other villages, such as Marpha (apple growing district). At Ghasa we again change vehicles in order to reach Tatopani (meaning hot water in Nepali). After arriving at Tatopani we will check in to our guesthouse and then head for the hot springs and wash away any aches and pains – and dust too! Breakfast, lunch & dinner are included.
With breakfast out of the way, we head to Ghorepani along a descending trail to the suspension bridge at the bottom. From here on, after crossing the bridge, it is all uphill passing small villages, terraced cultivated farms along the side of the hills, as well as a trek through a rhododendron forest. At one point on the trail, you will have an awesome view of Nilgiri South. The trail continues on to the rather small village of Ghara and an hour further down the track to Sikhar Village. If you stand at the highest point in the village you can look all the way back down the trail to Tatopani. Looking across to the opposite hills are other scattered villages. From Sikhar we continue on the trail until we reach Ghorepani where we will stay the night. Breakfast, lunch & dinner is included. Prior to reaching Ghorepani you will also get glimpses of Dhaulagiri and Tukuche peaks.
An early morning start and we trek up to Poon hil to watch the sunrise, an eye-opening experience that will leave you breathless. As dawn approaches the change in colours will be a magical experience where you camera will go into overdrive! This has to be one of the best places, on any trek, to view the Annapurnas, Dhaulagiri and its many snow-capped peaks. This is an unforgettable experience and will give you photos to boast about! We then head back to Ghorepani for breakfast and after have a 5-hour trek downhill to Nayapul. The first leg of the trek down to Tikhedhunga is a very steep descent after which we pass terraced fields for several hours before reaching Nayapul, and then on to Pokhara for the night.
With breakfast out of the way, we will drive back to Kathmandu which should take about six to seven hours with a few rest stops along the way. On the trip back to Kathmandu you may wish to consider other options, such as a trip to Chitwan National Park, a rafting adventure, scenic flight to Everest, mountain biking adventure, or guided shopping/scenic tour of Kathmandu. Tonight you have the luxury of hotel accommodation with breakfast included.
Today Sherpa Expedition Teams will take you to the airport about 3 hours before your scheduled departure. On your flight home, you can daydream and imagine your next trip to Nepal and where you would like next to explore. Breakfast is included today.

Good to Know
Accommodation
You will be accommodated in 3-star hotels in Kathmandu. During the trek, we will be staying at lodges/ teahouses. You may find comfort and better quality teahouses - having attached bathroom at lower levels- until you reach higher elevations, where the accommodation is more basic with bare necessities.
Meals during the trek
In Kathmandu, your hotel includes breakfast, whereas all meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) will be provided during the trek. A staple food of the Manang & Mustang regions is potatoes, oats, buckwheat, Sherpa stew, and Tibetan bread. Sherpa’s’ started farming potatoes when the first seeds were introduced to the region in the early 90s. There is a limited choice of food at higher elevations and except many potato dishes. Potatoes are high in carbohydrates – an excellent source of energy needed at high altitudes.
Transportation
We use a private car for sightseeing and for the airport to hotel pick and drop off. We use public transportation or local buses during the trek.
Physical fitness
This can be a challenging trek where you often have to walk 6-7 hours a day. You need past experience of hiking or trekking but if you have done any kind of trekking activities then it is always a plus! We have met people from all walks of life, shapes, and sizes who have completed the trek. The only difficult part is when altitude sickness strikes and the effect that it can have on your body. Before leaving for Nepal it is good if you can prepare yourself physically by increasing your stamina and oxygen intake.
Remember – The better prepared – the more enjoyable your trek!

ANNAPURNA CIRCUIT WITH TILICHO LAKE TREK 19 DAYS
Overview
The 19-day Annapurna Circuit with Tilicho Lake Trek is an extraordinary adventure that takes you through the breathtaking landscapes of the Annapurna region. Your journey begins with your arrival in Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal. The following day, you'll board a local bus and drive to Jagat, the starting point of the trek. From there, you will hike through picturesque villages and dense forests, gradually ascending to Dharapani, Chame, Pisang, and Manang, where you’ll take a rest day to acclimatize to the altitude.
After acclimatization, the trek continues to Shree Kharka, followed by the challenging but rewarding climb to Tilicho Base Camp. You will then visit Tilicho Lake, the highest lake in the world at an altitude of 4,919 meters, offering stunning views of the surrounding mountains. After enjoying the beauty of Tilicho Lake, you'll descend to Shree Kharka, and continue the trek through Yak Kharka, Thorong Phedi, and finally, the highlight of the trek—crossing the Thorong La Pass at 5,416 meters, one of the highest trekking passes in the world.
Descending from the pass, you will reach Muktinath, where you can visit the sacred Muktinath Temple. The journey then takes you to Marpha, a traditional village known for its apple orchards, and Jomsom. The next day, you’ll take a local bus to Tatopani, where you can relax in the natural hot springs. Afterward, the trek continues to Ghorepani, where you'll hike up to Poon Hill to witness a spectacular sunrise over the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri mountain ranges.
From Poon Hill, you will trek down to Nayapul, and then drive to Pokhara, a charming lakeside city. On the final day, you will return to Kathmandu by tourist bus, where the Sherpa Expedition team will transfer you to the airport for your departure.
Itinerary
Arrive in Kathmandu, Nepal's vibrant capital, and transfer to your hotel. You will be greeted by a representative from your trekking company who will brief you about the upcoming trek. The rest of the day is free for you to relax and explore the local area, perhaps visit a nearby market or café. In the evening, enjoy a delicious dinner at a traditional Nepali restaurant, where you can experience local flavors.
After an early breakfast, you will embark on a scenic drive from Kathmandu to Syange or Jagat. The journey takes approximately 8-9 hours, passing through Besishahar, the main entry point to the Annapurna Circuit. As you drive, you’ll witness the beauty of Nepal’s rural landscape, including terraced fields, small villages, and cascading rivers. The road gradually climbs, offering stunning views of the surrounding hills and mountains as you get closer to your trekking destination.
Your trek begins from Syange or Jagat, where you will walk along a well-maintained trail through terraced fields and lush forests. As you continue, you’ll cross small rivers and suspension bridges. The route is fairly gradual, taking you through traditional villages where you can experience the local way of life. After about 5-6 hours of trekking, you’ll arrive in Dharapani, a quaint village nestled at the foot of the Annapurnas. Here, you will stay overnight and enjoy your first taste of life in the mountains.
From Dharapani, the trail ascends more steeply through pine forests, with breathtaking views of the Lamjung Himal and Annapurna II towering in the distance. The path meanders through rocky terrain and small rivers, eventually bringing you to Chame, the administrative center of the Manang district. The village is known for its stunning views of the surrounding peaks and is a popular stop for trekkers. After a day’s walk of about 5-6 hours, you’ll rest in Chame, surrounded by the natural beauty of the Annapurna range.
Today’s trek takes you from Chame to Pisang, a village that offers amazing views of the Annapurna II and Pisang Peak. The trail begins with a gentle ascent through forests, passing by the small village of Bhratang. As you continue, the landscape opens up, providing expansive views of the surrounding peaks and valleys. You will hike for about 5-6 hours before reaching Pisang, which sits at the base of the dramatic Pisang Peak. It’s a peaceful village, offering a great spot to rest and enjoy the views.
Today’s trek is more challenging as you head towards Manang, the largest village in the region. The route takes you through the village of Ngawal, known for its ancient Buddhist monasteries and traditional stone houses. As you climb higher, you’ll start to notice the changing landscape, with the surroundings becoming more arid and mountainous. After 6-7 hours of trekking, you will reach Manang, located at an altitude of 3,500 meters. Manang is a bustling village that serves as a hub for trekkers, offering spectacular views of Gangapurna and Annapurna III.
Since you are now above 3,500 meters, it’s important to take a rest day to allow your body to acclimatize to the altitude. Today, you can explore Manang at your own pace, take a short hike around the village, or visit the Himalayan Rescue Association clinic to learn more about altitude sickness prevention. The day is also an excellent opportunity to interact with local people and immerse yourself in the culture of the region. You’ll stay overnight in Manang to ensure proper acclimatization before continuing your trek.
After a restful day in Manang, you’ll begin trekking to Siri Kharka, a small settlement located at 4,060 meters. The route from Manang is relatively short, but the altitude gain is significant. The trail climbs gently through alpine meadows and juniper forests. Along the way, you’ll pass a few isolated teahouses, where you can stop for a break and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. After about 4-5 hours, you’ll reach Siri Kharka, where you’ll settle in for the night. The view from here is simply breathtaking, with towering peaks and lush valleys below.
The trek today takes you closer to your goal, Tilicho Lake. From Siri Kharka, the trail heads up into a more rugged terrain, passing through rocky slopes and high-altitude meadows. After about 5-6 hours of trekking, you will arrive at Tilicho Base Camp, nestled at an altitude of 4,140 meters. The area offers awe-inspiring views of the surrounding peaks, including Tilicho Peak. You will spend the night here in preparation for your visit to the lake.
Today is one of the most exciting days of your trek. After an early morning start, you’ll hike up to Tilicho Lake, the highest lake in the world, situated at an altitude of 4,949 meters. The stunning blue waters of the lake are surrounded by snow-capped peaks, creating a surreal and majestic atmosphere. After taking in the views and enjoying the area, you’ll descend back to Siri Kharka for the night, retracing your steps along the rugged terrain.
Today, you will leave Siri Kharka and head towards Yak Kharka. The trail follows a gradual ascent through alpine meadows and barren landscapes. The area around Yak Kharka is known for its high-altitude pastures, where you may spot yaks grazing. After approximately 4-5 hours of trekking, you will reach this small settlement, which is often used as a rest point for trekkers on their way to higher altitudes. The views of the surrounding peaks, including Gangapurna and Annapurna III, are stunning, making it an ideal spot for the night.
From Yak Kharka, the trail continues to Thorong Phedi (or High Camp), the final stop before crossing the Thorong La Pass. The route becomes steeper, and you’ll feel the thinning air as you ascend. The trek takes approximately 4-5 hours, with the last section becoming more challenging as you approach the higher altitude. At Phedi or High Camp, you’ll spend the night and prepare for the big day ahead, crossing Thorong La Pass tomorrow. The views of the surrounding mountains grow increasingly spectacular as you near your destination.
This is one of the most exhilarating and challenging days of the trek. Starting very early, you will make the ascent to Thorong La Pass, which sits at an impressive altitude of 5,416 meters. The climb to the pass takes several hours, but the breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains make it all worthwhile. After crossing the pass, the descent toward Muktinath begins. The trail is steep but offers magnificent views of the Kali Gandaki Gorge and surrounding peaks. After 8-9 hours of trekking, you will reach Muktinath, a sacred pilgrimage site for both Hindus and Buddhists. Here, you’ll visit the Muktinath Temple, an important spiritual destination, and take in the serene atmosphere of the area.
Today, you will descend from Muktinath to Marpha, a charming village known for its apple orchards and traditional stone houses. You will pass through Jomsom, the district headquarters of Mustang, and then continue on the trail that follows the Kali Gandaki River. The trek from Muktinath to Marpha takes about 5-6 hours and offers great views of the surrounding landscape, including the Dhaulagiri and Annapurna ranges. Marpha is a peaceful village with narrow alleys and beautiful whitewashed houses, where you’ll spend the night.
After a restful night in Marpha, you will take a scenic drive to Tatopani. The drive takes around 5-6 hours, passing through winding roads along the Kali Gandaki River, offering beautiful views of the river valley and surrounding peaks. Upon arrival in Tatopani, you’ll have time to relax in the natural hot springs that the area is famous for. The hot springs provide the perfect opportunity to soothe your muscles and recover from the long days of trekking.
Today, you’ll start trekking from Tatopani to Ghorepani, a popular village that offers stunning views of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri mountain ranges. The trek will take about 7-8 hours as you ascend through lush forests, cross suspension bridges, and pass through several small villages. As you get closer to Ghorepani, the views of the towering peaks become more dramatic. Ghorepani is a charming village and an ideal spot to rest before the next day's early morning hike to Poon Hill.
An early morning start is required today to hike up to Poon Hill, renowned for offering one of the best sunrise views in the world. The Poon Hill viewpoint at 3,210 meters provides a panoramic view of the Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, and Machapuchare peaks, bathed in the golden light of the sunrise. After the sunrise, you will trek down to Nayapul, and then drive to Pokhara, a picturesque lakeside city, where you can relax, enjoy the tranquil setting, and explore the local sights. The drive takes about 1-2 hours, and you’ll be able to rest in Pokhara after a long and rewarding trek.
After enjoying a restful night in Pokhara, you will drive back to Kathmandu via a tourist bus. The drive takes around 6-7 hours, providing an opportunity to enjoy the changing landscapes as you make your way back to the capital. Once in Kathmandu, you can enjoy your last evening in Nepal, perhaps shopping for souvenirs or visiting some of the historical sites you may have missed at the start of your trip.
On the final day of your journey, the Sherpa Expedition team will transfer you to the airport for your flight. Take this time to reflect on the incredible adventure you’ve had, the friends you’ve made, and the stunning landscapes you’ve witnessed. Safe travels as you depart Nepal, with unforgettable memories of the Annapurna Circuit with Tilicho Lake Trek!

Itinerary
An early start to the day sees us on a local bus heading to Syange. On the route you will get to see typical Nepali countryside and views of the mountains on the Annapurna circuit trek. You will pass raging rivers, lush vegetation and terraced fields of the farmers. Tonight we will stay at a guest house in Dharapani.
The trail today is one that has been previously affected by landslides. We initially pass through a small village before starting on a gradual uphill trail to Bagarchhap, a typical Tibetan style village in the forest. We then follow the left bank of the river towards Koto, the gateway to the admired Nar Phu Valley Trekking route. We have a fairly easy trek from here to Chame, the administrative center of the Manang District.
After leaving Chame we come to Telekhu Village and on the trail have some excellent views of Annapurna and Pisang (6091m). We then re-cross the river on a suspension bridge to the south bank of the Marsyangdi River and climb up through a pine-forest as we follow the trail through the upper reaches of the Manang valley on our way to Pisang.
The town of Pisang is where we start our trek into the more isolated Upper Manang region. We first head to the Tibetan village of Braga with its distinctive architecture and houses that are constructed one upon the other. One of the main attractions here is its Gompa (Buddhist temple), the largest in the Manang region. Manang is also a favourite place with trekkers, as well as being the perfect place to acclimatize before heading to higher altitudes.
Health experts strongly recommend that before heading to higher altitudes that trekkers spend some time acclimatizing. They also add that one should remain active during this acclimatization period. From Manang you will have some truly wonderful views of Annapurna II; Annapurna III (7555m); Gangapurna (7454 m); and in the south to Tilicho (7132 m); and the Grand Barrier (a 7000m ridge) in the west; Chulu West (6583m) and Chulu East (6059m) meters in the north. To assist with the acclimatization process we will climb up to Mt. Khangsar (3756m).
This morning we cross a rive and then trek through an alpine forest and will pass through several settlements, including Khangsar and Siri Kharka before arriving at the Tilicho Base Camp. The trail is strewn with rubble and the aftereffects of landslides, but at sunset we will be rewarded with some awesome sunset views over the mountains. We will stay in a guest house at Tilicho Base camp for the night.
At around 4:30 am we head to Tilicho Lake with its pristine turquoise water and then return to Tilicho Base Camp for lunch before heading off to Shree Kharka where we will stay the night.
This morning we begin our day by descending to Khangsar Village via Tare Gumba (3870m) - well-known for its Buddhist monastery. We then follow the trail through the Thorong Khola Valley until we arrive at the abandoned village of Old Khangsar before coming to Yak Kharka where we will stay overnight.
As we ascend we will slowly get used to the higher altitudes. We will take the trail along the east bank of the Jarang Khola (river) and be bordered by steep bluffs before coming to Thorong Phedi (meaning foot hills). We may decide to trek for another hour to High Camp (4800m). If we are lucky we may get to see the famous blue sheep and even the secretive snow leopard! This is also the habitat to the Lammergeyer (bearded vulture). There is also a belief the fabled griffons (creature with a lion’s body & bird’s head) inhabit this region.
Today is most likely going to be the hardest day on the trail as we trek for around 8 to 9 hours. The higher altitude adds to the difficulty, and at times strong winds in these upper regions make it harder going. On the trail we will most likely pass sheep, yaks and merchants transporting various goods along the trails from Tibet. Once we arrive at Thorong La Pass we will have some amazing views of Annapurna, Gangapurna and the stunning peak of Khatungkang (6484m). We will then descend around 1600 metres with the trail gradually more undulating and relatively easy-going before we arrive at Jomsom.
Today we will enjoy a mountainous scenic drive to Tatopani from Jomsom with some splendid mountain views on the route. We will pass through several small villages before arriving at Tatopani where we stay overnight. The therapeutic hot springs here are an ideal place to relax those tired limbs.
This morning we follow the trail, cross a suspension bridge over the Kaligandaki River and then continue until we come to a junction of two trails from where we ascend through terraced farms and villages. We then trek through a dense rhododendron forest before coming to the village of Chitre and eventually to Ghorepani where we will stay the night.
We will be up bright and early – before sunrise, in order to appreciate the sunrise views over the mountains. We will have some of the finest mountain views in Nepal from Poon Hill lookout. The rising sun will cast its light in various shades over the snow covered mountains and will be entrenched in your mind forever. We will then head back to Ghorepani for breakfast and then continue on to Tadapani where we will stay the night.
This morning we will wake up to views of Mt. Machhapuchare (Fishtail) and Annapurna South. The trail takes us through forested hills. The Gurung people are the dominant caste in Ghandruk. Pisang is the beginning of our trek into the upper Manang area. Today we follow a trail to Braga; a Tibetan village with its unique architecture and houses constructed one upon the other. It covers an area of 4.8 sqkm. Guesthouse accommodation. Breakfast, lunch & dinner included.
Today we begin our trek descending to Khangsar Village today passing through Tare Gumba (3870m) known for its monastery. There is also a belief the mythical griffons are in this region!
