Overview

The 14 Days Annapurna Circuit Trek is one of Nepal’s most iconic trekking routes, renowned for its breathtaking Himalayan panoramas, diverse landscapes, and rich cultural experiences. This extended trek through the Annapurna region offers an unforgettable adventure, crossing the challenging Thorong La Pass (5,416 meters) and passing through vibrant traditional villages, lush forests, and high-altitude deserts.

Starting from Besisahar, the trek gradually ascends through terraced rice fields and charming Gurung villages, offering trekkers a unique glimpse into local Nepali life. The trail takes you through popular stops such as Chame, Manang, and Muktinath, a sacred pilgrimage site that attracts both Hindus and Buddhists. The Annapurna Circuit Trek is not only a journey through stunning natural beauty but also a cultural exploration of Nepal’s diverse ethnic groups.

One of the major highlights of the 14 Days Annapurna Circuit Trek is the crossing of Thorong La Pass, one of the highest trekking passes in the world. This demanding but rewarding climb rewards trekkers with sweeping views of towering peaks like Annapurna I, Dhaulagiri, and Nilgiri. Proper acclimatization days are incorporated in the itinerary, especially in Manang, to help hikers adjust to the high altitude and ensure a safe trekking experience.

The descent from the pass leads to Jomsom, located in the dry, desert-like Mustang region with a unique landscape vastly different from the lush lower valleys. The trek ends with a drive or flight back to Pokhara, where trekkers can relax by the serene Phewa Lake and celebrate the successful completion of the trek.

The 14 Days Annapurna Circuit Trek is ideal for adventurous trekkers who want to experience Nepal’s incredible mountain scenery, rich cultural heritage, and thrilling high-altitude challenges. It is a perfect balance of adventure, nature, and culture, making it one of the most popular trekking circuits in the world.

Itinerary

Sherpa Expedition & Trekking staff will be there to greet you at Tribhuvan International Airport and take you to your hotel, followed by a briefing covering information, do’s, and don’ts of your trek. Your safety and comfort are paramount.

We will spend the day sightseeing in Kathmandu Valley with our guide. We will visit Pashupatinath, regarded as the holiest Hindu temple in Nepal and where pilgrims worship Lord Shiva (situated on the banks of the holy Bagmati River), Bouddhanath, a Buddhist temple known as ‘Little Tibet’ and then on to Swayambhunath known as the Monkey Temple. From Swayambhunath we drive to Kathmandu’s famous Durbar Square, a UNESCO World Heritage-listed site, and located in front of the old royal palace. Upon arriving back at your hotel you may have time to do some last-minute shopping around Thamel – the tourist hub of Kathmandu. Your guide will be available to help you prepare for the trek and answer any questions. Breakfast included.

A long drive will take us to where our trekking begins. This is an opportune time to sit back, relax, and take in the sights of the changing countryside; rivers, terraced rice fields and views of the stunning Himalayas. Tonight we will stay at a guesthouse with all meals included.

Just prior to Manang, at Tal, we cross a bridge and then follow the trail through cultivated farmlands, waterfalls, and on to Koto Village before coming to Dharapani, one of the largest in the Manang Valley. We will stay here in a guesthouse overnight with all meals included.

A bit of a hard slog today as we climb along some treed ridges on our way to Chame. Rather than always looking down, we must remember to look skyward where we will see some huge snowy peaks: Lamjung Himal, Annapurna II, and Annapurna IV (7,525m). There is also a hot spring on the trail where we can sit back and relax – without going to sleep of course! Tonight we will stay at a guesthouse with all meals provided.

We walk through a steep and narrow valley to have our first view of Paungda Danda, a massive curved rock face towering 1500m up from the river bed. At this location, we can look up to the gigantic Annapurna II and Pisang Peak. We will then head down to Manang Valley while enjoying the beautiful terrain. Tonight we will stay at a guesthouse in Pisang with all meals included.

We head higher today to Ghyaru Village and along the trail will be privileged to have some magical views of Annapurna II and other snow-clad peaks, as well as the glacier of Annapurna IV – that is visible from Ghyaru. We will stop for a lunch break at Ghyaru and then head on to Ngawal. Once again, remember to look up where you will see the stunning Pisang and Annapurna peaks. You will know Ngawal village is close once you reach the Mani wall and the fluttering Tibetan prayer flags. At Ngawal we can look down at Humde Village and its small airport. We then descend to the villages of Bhakra and Braga before coming to Manang. Tonight we will stay in a guesthouse with all meals provided.

It is highly recommended by experts to stay active when spending time acclimatizing. We will take a short trek to Bhojo Gumba – a monastery or to Gangapurna Lake. If we have the energy, we can even hike to Vraga Village where we can visit the Himalayan Rescue Association who can enlighten us about the condition of Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS). Tonight we will stay at a guesthouse in Manang with all meals provided.

Leaving Manang we cross the river before coming to Tenki Village and then continue up the Marsyangdi Valley passing several small villages, such as Ghunsa, and some scrubby terrain, all the while ascending. We will also witness yak and mountain horses grazing on the alpine pastures before reaching Yak Kharka where we will stay overnight at a guesthouse with all meals included.

Today the trail is al uphill to Thorong Phedi. We initially cross a suspension bridge and then reach Ledar Village. From here we again climb higher below the cliffs until we reach Thorong Phedi, the last village before Thorong La Pass. From this altitude, we have some spectacular views of several high peaks: Mt. Gundang, Mt. Syagang, Thorong Peak, and Mt. Khatungkang. Tonight we will stay at a guesthouse at Thorong Phedi with all meals included.

Today is one of the highlights of the trek as we cross one of the highest passes in the world, Thorong La Pass. We cross from east to west, from Manang to Muktinath, which is considered safer and easier than crossing from the other direction. In order to reach the pass early and avoid the high winds, we have to rise around 3 a.m. Once at the pass the effort will be well worth it as you will have some really amazing views over the nearby mountains. After a photo session, we will then head back down to the valley floor and then drive to Jomsom. Tonight we will stay at a guesthouse in Jomsom with all meals included.

Today we drive through the Kali Gandaki Gorge, hemmed in by the enormous mountain ranges and Mt. Annapurna and Mt. Dhaulagiri. Once back at Pokhara Sherpa Expedition & Trekking staff will take you to your hotel where you can rest or wander around Phewa Tal (lake), or maybe stroll along lakeside and enjoy a cold drink or coffee at the numerous cafes. We will stay at a hotel at Lakeside with breakfast and lunch included.

Today we drive back to Kathmandu and can sit back, relax, and take in the sights. You can look back on this epic trek and congratulate yourself on enduring some pretty tough long days on the trail. Tonight we will celebrate with a farewell dinner hosted by Sherpa Expedition and Trekking. Tonight we stay at a hotel with breakfast included.

This is the day you say goodbye to Nepal. Sherpa Expedition Teams will take you to the airport at least 3 hours prior to your departure. Once on the plane, you can reflect on your time in Nepal and plan your next adventure to this mountainous country.

Good to Know

Accommodation

You will be accommodated in 3-star hotels in Kathmandu. During the trek, we will be staying at lodges/ teahouses. You may find comfort and better quality teahouses - having attached bathroom at lower levels- until you reach higher elevations, where the accommodation is more basic with bare necessities.

Meals during the trek

In Kathmandu, your hotel includes breakfast, whereas all meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) will be provided during the trek. A staple food of the Manang & Mustang regions is potatoes, oats, buckwheat, Sherpa stew, and Tibetan bread. Sherpa’s’ started farming potatoes when the first seeds were introduced to the region in the early 90s. There is a limited choice of food at higher elevations and except many potato dishes. Potatoes are high in carbohydrates – an excellent source of energy needed at high altitudes.

Transportation

We use a private car for sightseeing and for the airport to hotel pick and drop off. We use public transportation or local buses during the trek.

Physical fitness

This can be a challenging trek where you often have to walk 6-7 hours a day. You need past experience of hiking or trekking but if you have done any kind of trekking activities then it is always a plus! We have met people from all walks of life, shapes, and sizes who have completed the trek. The only difficult part is when altitude sickness strikes and the effect that it can have on your body. Before leaving for Nepal it is good if you can prepare yourself physically by increasing your stamina and oxygen intake.

Remember – The better prepared – the more enjoyable your trek!

No, there is no age limit for the trek to Annapurna Circuit but, you need to be in good physical shape and have a positive attitude. We also suggest you to prior to the excursion though we suggest you to please see your doctor and obtain necessary permission and advice, as well as medications for traveling in extreme altitude prior to the excursion.

During trekking, you will be served meals in the teahouses. Typical meals are noodles, rice, pasta or potato dishes along with vegetables and egg/chicken/meat dishes. Other items mostly served as breakfasts include egg, pancake, bread, porridge, muesli, and toasts with peanut butter and honey.

A teahouse trekking accommodation will be made for you for the Annapurna Circuit Trekking whereby you will be able to stay at tea house (Local lodge) and have wholesome food and neat and clean comfortable bed throughout your trekking journey. This form of arrangement also allows you to carry less baggage; you can trek at your own pace and enjoy the Annapurna panorama on your own schedule. It is also an eco-friendly way of trekking whereby trekkers can have more contact with the local people.

Most of the teahouses on the Annapurna Circuit trail have squat toilet facilities but recently built lodges have western-style toilets as well. Nowadays, flush toilets are also being introduced with number of increasing foreign mountaineers each year. It is highly recommended to carry your own toilet paper and other required toiletries. Hot shower facilities are available. The most common type is a bucket shower, usual buckets with tap filled with hot water and placed in a shower room. Hot shower costs from US$ 2 to 5 per use and the price increases along with the elevation. Attached bathrooms and toilets are not available unless you book for a luxury lodge during the Annapurna Circuit trek.

What you want to wear depends on you but we suggest you wear warm clothes during the Annapurna Circuit Trekking. A down jacket, thermal longs and top, comfortable trekking trousers, t-shirts, fleece, windproof jacket, hat, scarf, and gloves might be useful. There are numerous trekking shops in the Thamel area of Kathmandu where you can get all of these items in both local and branded stores alike. During the Annapurna Circuit Trekking, you will be on a long journey for which you will need two bags to keep your belongings. A rucksack/duffle bag and a day bag for personal items. Sherpa Expedition and Trekking will provide you with a duffle bag (which is need to refund after the trek) that you can use throughout your entire journey and even afterward. These bags are durable and hence perfect for any kind of trekking journey. While the duffle bag will be carried by the potters, you will have to carry a day bag on your own. A day bag is a small backpack that has enough room for everything you will need on a day hike such as lunch, water, extra clothing and perhaps a few personnel items like camera, battery chargers, etc.

If possible, we suggest you bring your own equipment. However, sleeping bags and down jackets will be provided to you by Sherpa Expedition and Trekking. With regards to trekking poles, if you are used to walking with it then take them with you, as you will probably find them useful especially on the way down. They are not essential though and the walk is manageable without them. It is mostly a personal preference. If you prefer to take the trekking poles with you on the trekking then you can either bring your own pole or buy it from numerous options available in Kathmandu itself.

Yes, if you have a bag of extra clothing for when you return from the trekking, you will be able to store it safely in Kathmandu Sherpa Expedition and Trekking office. The storage facility is provided by most hotels and lodges in Kathmandu or you can also store it in our office for the duration of the trekking.

Our itinerary has been specially tailored to prevent any kind of AMS (Acute Mountain Sickness) while moving up to higher altitudes. Normally, altitude sickness starts from 3,600 meters and above. You will be trekking at a relatively slow and gradual pace as part of the acclimatization process. Cut off caffeinated, alcoholic and smoking items. Drink at least 4 liters of water a day. Trek slow. Don't skip the acclimatization days. Better to continue with Diamox (if any symptoms show up). Drink Garlic Soup. In the higher elevation, there is less oxygen in the air and this is more so while crossing high passes. Our expert guides will advise you on how to avoid AMS and treat it when/ if required.

Make sure to have both medical and evacuation insurance before coming to Nepal for Annapurna Circuit Trekking. You should be careful in choosing a policy while traveling to a Himalayan country like Nepal as some insurance companies may make special exceptions for adventure travel. If you are confused about the insurance, please inform us and we will help you. It is usually better to arrange your insurance in your country before travel.

The trekking will be 5-7 hours a day depending upon the landscape and destination.

It takes 4 to 11 days to reach Base Camp depending upon the mode of transportation and packages of Sherpa Expedition and Trekking offers.

We at Sherpa Expedition and Trekking Team always have the safety, comfort, and satisfaction of our valued customers as our foremost priority at all times, and we assure you a wonderful and unforgettable time with us in our beautiful country. Sherpa team members of Sherpa Expedition and Trekking will be carrying all the necessary gear, equipment, and first aid kits and they have extensive first aid training. If a trekker falls sick on high altitude, the leader will decide whether to continue the trek. In case of emergency, Sherpa Expedition and Trekking have a rescue helicopter to bring you back from the higher elevation. Moreover, Sherpa Expedition and Trekking also provides oximeter to monitor the oxygen level at high altitude and offers regular health check-up facilities.

You can either trek on foot or by a flight. Sherpa Expedition and Trekking offer exciting and reasonable flight to Pokhara for 4 days and 10 days. Sherpa Expedition and Trekking can also customize your tour as per your necessity.

The flights are usually regular between September and May. But due to high altitude, bad weather and unforeseen technical issues, you may experience a delay or cancellation of the flight. On the occurrence of such events, Sherpa Expedition and Trekking tourist bus will be arranged.

Sherpa Expedition and Trekking will provide one porter for two trekkers to carry 20 kgs of luggage (maximum 10 kg for each trekker). Please be sure your porters are not overloaded because they do not carry only your equipment but also lift your spirit to reach new heights, and your love, affection, and generosity can be the reason for them to work hard to take you to your destination. However, the weight limit on flights to the Annapurna region, basically to Pokhara is a total of 20 kgs including hand bag and you need to pay an extra amount per kg for the excess baggage. Sherpa Expedition and Trekking pays up to 5 kgs of extra baggage making your total to 20 kgs with your hand bag.

Garlic soup is a must while trekking. Sherpa Expedition and Trekking recommend trekkers to drink green tea, lemon tea, hot lemon ginger tea and drink at least 2-4 liters of water a day. However, it is better to avoid alcohol and alcoholic beverages, caffeinated items, and hot-chocolates at high altitude.

Sherpa Expedition and Trekking won’t recommend non-veg items because the meat in such places may not hygienic and healthy. Sherpa Expedition and Trekking also encourage to avoid dairy and cheesy items and strongly suggest not to consume them during the trek. So, our packages are suitable for both vegan and vegetarians.

Your guide and porters are a big reason why you got a chance to feel something very few can have. Apart from guiding and carrying your necessities and being mindful of your safety, they want to see you happily succeeded more than anyone like family and help you successfully complete the trek safely. So, your tips reflect gratitude towards them. So, tipping is a recommended culture for porters and guide in Nepal as a gesture of thankfulness.

Sherpa Expedition and Trekking will introduce dozens of shops selling knock-off gear in Kathmandu. You can also barter those gears at the knock-off places but be sure you keep the receipt safely. Moreover, you can rent the needed gears if you do not want to buy them.

Yes, most guesthouses offer Wi-Fi, for a small charge. it cost USD$5 per day.

ATM services are available only in Pokhara & Jomsom. However, the services might not work or run out of cash. Therefore, we suggest you carry a small amount of money to buy snacks, etc during the trekking.

Most of the tea houses/ lodges have electricity whereby you will be able to charge your iPod or camera batteries. Please note that lodges/tea houses will charge you some extra money for the services. The fee may vary from 1 USD to 5 USD per hour.

This classic trekking route is renowned for its constantly changing scenery. The trail begins in green lowlands filled with waterfalls and terraced farms, gradually rising into alpine forests, high mountain deserts, and glacial terrain. The itinerary includes time for acclimatization in Manang, ensuring a safer and more enjoyable ascent to high altitude.

Crossing Thorong La Pass is the highlight of the trek, rewarding trekkers with sweeping views of Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, and surrounding Himalayan peaks. The journey continues into the sacred area of Muktinath, an important pilgrimage site for both Hindus and Buddhists. The trek then transitions into the Kali Gandaki Valley, with time to relax in the natural hot springs of Tatopani and a scenic finale at Poon Hill, famous for its sunrise mountain panorama.

This Annapurna Circuit Trek by Sherpa Expedition Teams is designed for trekkers who want adventure, cultural depth, and unforgettable Himalayan scenery, all delivered with professionalism and care.

Itinerary

Upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, a representative from Sherpa Expedition Teams will greet you and assist with your transfer to the hotel. After check-in, you can relax after your journey or explore nearby streets. In the evening, a detailed trek briefing will be conducted, covering route information, safety measures, altitude awareness, and equipment checks.

Today’s journey begins with a scenic drive from Kathmandu through terraced farmland, river valleys, and rural settlements. Following the Marsyangdi River, the road gradually climbs into the Annapurna region. After reaching Besisahar, the drive continues along a rugged mountain road to Chame, offering impressive views of waterfalls, cliffs, and snow-covered peaks.

The trek officially begins with a walk through pine forests and narrow gorges. The trail passes suspension bridges and apple orchards, with dramatic views of Lamjung Himal and Annapurna II. As the valley opens, you arrive at Pisang, a traditional Himalayan village set beneath towering rock formations.

Today’s trek offers some of the most scenic views of the journey. The landscape becomes drier and more alpine as you pass ancient monasteries, prayer wheels, and stone-built villages. The trail gradually ascends to Manang, a culturally rich village surrounded by Annapurna III, Gangapurna, and Tilicho Peak.

This important rest day allows your body to adapt to the higher altitude. You may explore Manang village, visit the Himalayan Rescue Association clinic, or hike to nearby viewpoints and lakes. These short excursions help improve acclimatization while offering spectacular mountain scenery.

Leaving Manang, the trail climbs gradually through open alpine terrain. Vegetation becomes sparse, and expansive mountain views dominate the landscape. Along the way, you may see yaks or blue sheep grazing in the high pastures before reaching Yak Kharka.

The trail continues with a steady ascent, crossing small streams and landslide areas. As you approach Thorong Phedi, the environment becomes stark and rugged. The afternoon is reserved for rest, hydration, and preparation for the high-altitude pass crossing the following morning.

An early morning start is essential for this challenging yet rewarding day. The climb to Thorong La Pass is gradual but demanding due to altitude. From the summit, enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges. The long descent leads to Muktinath, a sacred pilgrimage site revered by both Hindus and Buddhists.

Today’s drive follows the Kali Gandaki Valley, one of the world’s deepest gorges. The scenery changes dramatically as the route descends into warmer climates. Upon arrival in Tatopani, you can relax in the natural hot springs, an ideal way to soothe tired muscles.

The trail climbs steadily through lush forests of rhododendron, oak, and bamboo. Passing small villages and terraced farmland, the route offers a pleasant contrast to the high-altitude terrain. Ghorepani is a lively mountain village known for its excellent viewpoints.

Before dawn, hike to Poon Hill to witness a spectacular sunrise over the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges. After returning to Ghorepani, continue trekking downhill to Ulleri. From there, drive to Pokhara and take a scenic flight back to Kathmandu.

After breakfast, Sherpa Expedition Teams will arrange your transfer to Tribhuvan International Airport for your onward journey, concluding your unforgettable Annapurna Circuit adventure.

Itinerary

Upon arrival at Kathmandu Tribhuvan International Airport, you will be met by a Sherpa Expedition & Trekking representative, and taken to your hotel. After checking in at the hotel, you will be briefed on what to expect on your trek to Annapurna circuit.

Your adventure begins with an early morning departure from Kathmandu. As you wind your way through the picturesque landscapes of Nepal, you’ll pass through bustling towns and serene countryside. The drive to Syange will take you along the Prithvi Highway, offering stunning views of the Trishuli River and lush green valleys.

Stop for lunch in Besishahar, the gateway to the Annapurna Circuit, where you can sample local cuisine and recharge for the journey ahead. After lunch, continue your drive through charming villages and terraced fields, gradually ascending to Syange.

Upon arrival, settle into your guesthouse, where you can unwind and soak in the beauty of the surrounding mountains. Take a leisurely stroll to the nearby waterfalls or enjoy the tranquil atmosphere as you prepare for the trek ahead.

After breakfast, you’ll begin your trek from Syange, descending through terraced fields and lush forests. The trail winds along the Marsyangdi River, providing spectacular views of the valley and the surrounding peaks.

As you trek, you’ll pass through traditional Gurung villages, where you can witness the local lifestyle and perhaps share a smile or a conversation with the friendly inhabitants.

After several hours of walking, you’ll reach Dharapani, a beautiful village nestled among the mountains. Settle into your accommodation, enjoy a warm meal, and take some time to relax while soaking in the stunning scenery.

Today’s trek takes you deeper into the Annapurna region. Leaving Dharapani, the trail gradually ascends through pine forests and lush landscapes. You’ll pass through the village of Bagarchhap, known for its beautiful traditional stone houses.

As you continue, the towering peaks of the Annapurna range come into view, providing a dramatic backdrop for your trek. Reaching Chame, the administrative center of the Manang district, you can explore the village and relax in the hot springs if time allows. Enjoy a well-deserved dinner and rest for the night.

The trail today offers breathtaking views as you trek from Chame to Pisang. You’ll walk alongside the Marsyangdi River and traverse through lush forests and charming villages.

The landscape gradually shifts as you gain elevation, with the towering peaks of the Annapurnas becoming more pronounced. Upon reaching Pisang, take time to explore the village, known for its unique architecture and stunning mountain vistas.

Settle in for the night and enjoy a hearty meal to prepare for the ascent ahead.

Today’s trek to Manang is one of the highlights of your journey. You have the option to take either the lower or upper trail; both offer spectacular views and unique experiences. The upper trail provides panoramic views of the Annapurna range, while the lower trail offers glimpses of local life.

As you approach Manang, the landscape transforms into a high-altitude desert, marked by rugged mountains and deep blue skies. Upon arrival, take time to acclimatize, hydrate, and explore the village’s monasteries and local shops.

This day is dedicated to acclimatization, allowing your body to adjust to the altitude. Explore the fascinating surroundings of Manang, visiting the local gompas (monasteries) and enjoying panoramic views of the Annapurna range.

You can also embark on a short hike to nearby viewpoints or the glacier lakes, helping your body acclimatize while enjoying the stunning scenery. Use this time to rest and prepare for the next leg of your journey.

The trek from Manang to Yak Kharka is shorter but offers incredible views as you gain altitude. The trail takes you through alpine meadows and rocky terrain, with stunning vistas of the Annapurna peaks.

Yak Kharka is a small settlement known for its grazing yaks and breathtaking mountain views. After settling into your accommodation, take a moment to enjoy the serene surroundings and prepare for the next day’s trek.

Today’s trek is relatively short, allowing you to arrive at Thorong Phedi early and rest before the big day ahead. The trail ascends steadily, passing through rocky paths and alpine meadows.

Upon reaching Thorong Phedi, you can relax and enjoy the stunning views. Ensure you hydrate well and prepare for the early start tomorrow to cross Thorong La Pass.

An early start is crucial for today’s challenge: crossing Thorong La Pass, the highest point of your trek. The ascent is steep, and the air becomes thinner, but the views from the pass are breathtaking.

After reaching the top, take a moment to savor the achievement and enjoy the panoramic views of the surrounding peaks. The descent to Muktinath is steep but rewarding.

Upon arrival in Muktinath, a sacred site for both Hindus and Buddhists, take time to explore the temples and appreciate the spiritual atmosphere. Settle into your accommodation and reflect on the day’s accomplishments.

After breakfast, you’ll enjoy a scenic drive from Muktinath to Tatopani. The journey takes you through stunning landscapes, with dramatic changes in terrain and climate as you descend.

Tatopani, known for its natural hot springs, is the perfect place to relax and rejuvenate after your trekking adventure. Enjoy a soothing soak in the hot springs and savor a delicious meal in the village.

Today’s trek takes you back into the heart of the Annapurna region. The trail ascends through lush forests and charming villages, with opportunities to spot local wildlife and enjoy stunning views.

Ghorepani is famous for its panoramic views of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges. Upon arrival, settle into your accommodation and prepare for an early start to witness the sunrise from Poon Hill.

Wake up early and embark on a short hike to Poon Hill for a breathtaking sunrise view over the Himalayas. The sight of the sun illuminating the peaks is an unforgettable experience.

After returning to Ghorepani for breakfast, you’ll trek down to Nayapul. The descent is enjoyable, passing through terraced fields and local villages. Upon reaching Nayapul, take a drive to Pokhara.

Settle into your hotel in Pokhara, a beautiful lakeside city, and spend the evening relaxing and reflecting on your incredible journey.

After breakfast, you’ll begin your drive back to Kathmandu. Enjoy the scenic views of the countryside as you make your way through charming towns and landscapes.

Upon arrival in Kathmandu, you’ll have time to explore the city, shop for souvenirs, or enjoy a final meal of delicious Nepali cuisine. Reflect on the amazing journey you’ve had through the Annapurna region, filled with breathtaking landscapes and rich cultural experiences.

Overview

The 7 Day Annapurna Circuit Trek is a high-speed and short duration Annapurna Circuit trek targeting upbeat and fit travelers with an average-length or limited vacation trip. This is one rapid-fire version of a relatively long but fast Annapurna Circuit, but does manage to maintain a proper route via Marsyangdi Valley at a decent speed and comes with mandatory and proper acclimatization measures. The 7 - day trekking itinerary is designed with at least an accommodation stop at Manang for reasonably safer altitude preparation and gradual altitude adjustment, as opposed to skipping nights of rest on the shortest possible treks. It's ideal for energetic trekkers without much vacation time, travelers seeking the fastest Annapurna Circuit, people looking for accommodation at Manang for acclimatisation, travelers who wish to trek back to Kathmandu, and folks seeking a fast Annapurna Circuit but not the wildest one available.

Who is this trip for? This fast trekking schedule will suit fit trekkers looking for an awesome experience of Annapurna Massif. Also, this trek schedule caters to people who have very little vacation time but still need to keep their ascent profiles safe during their short Annapurna Circuit.

Who is this trip not for? If you are planning for a relaxing/casual Annapurna Circuit itinerary then this trek plan will not be suitable for you. Likewise, if you're a beginner and do not have enough fitness, or if you need multiple days for acclimatization then this route might also not suit your needs.

Your trek begins with a drive from Kathmandu overland into the remarkable lower circuit. You trace the familiar Annapurna Circuit route, enduring long trekking days along the changing alpine terrain on the route up to the high altitude trekker's mecca of Manang. Your Manang acclimatization day including proper rest and acclimatization here allows your body to adapt below the shadow of the awesome Annapurna Massif, before heading up into the thinner air.

After you’re in Manang you will now continue higher up toward the rain-shadow of Mustang at what is to be the culmination of the trek, trekking over and ascending 5,416-meter Thorong La Pass. Then descend again to the holy and renowned pilgrimage site of Muktinath in Mustang and start your return to Kathmandu and end your 7-Day Annapurna Circuit Trek. Finishing in Kathmandu, this high altitude adventure is a fantastic achievement in a much shorter time than is typically achieved.

Itinerary

After a long and winding mountain journey that takes you away from the capital city, the morning ride out to the Annapurnas comes to an abrupt end on your arrival in Chame, 2,760 meters, after a steep ascent to the higher terrain; most of the altitude sickness should be felt by now. You'll pass a rugged dirt road alongside deep river gorges, waterfalls, rice paddies of flat hillside farming plots and tiny villages carved into the hillsides for lunch in a rural roadside restaurant just before Besisahar before settling down in a comfortable Chame lodge in the evening. You would see domesticated goats grazing on village land, mules packed up with freight passing you by and if very lucky, you may even see monkeys playfully leaping between trees in the sparse woodland, close to this altitude, along the winding mountain route.

We will encounter the sweet aroma of pine and flower-dotted rhododendron trees, with our trail following along the rushing Marsyangdi River, and feel refreshing pure mountain air for the first time on our treks. The altitude effect hits you at 3,300 metres as you reach upper Pisang. You will see great curved walls of rock, old carved mani walls, prayer wheels, and simple stone domes.

Your lunch will be served at a trail-side tea house in Dhukur Pokhari with beautiful views. You will have your dinner at a guest house in Pisang. Many heavy pack mules come down from Manang, farm goats grazing on the grassy banks, shy musk-deer peeping from behind green branches and brilliant colorful birds perched on the tree branches along your pathway of fragrant pine branches.

Following a slow-paced ascent and the natural settlement with the altitude, you will take one easy walk all through this amazing arid rain-shadow lands of the Upper Manang Valley. At 3,500m we reached the historic high-altitude settlement town of Manang. We walk past historic Buddhist monasteries, traditional flat-roofed mud houses, historic chortens and view the wide valley floor.

We will have lunch in a warm lodge at the village of Humde and spend tonight at an altitude of around 3,500m eating dinner in a warm wood-fired dining room in Manang.

You will no doubt see yaks contained in stone enclosures in pastures along the open valley floor, and be on the look out for pikas darting among the boulders and you may spot horses or bearded vultures drifting high above.

Rise and enjoy your breakfast a relaxing start before a leisurely hike up to one of our popular acclimatisation viewpoints (Chongkor or Gangapurna Lake at  3,800m) to take in Annapurna and Gangapurna vistas from above. Return back from the acclimatization hike and explore a collection of traditional stone villages with fluttering prayer flags, bakers producing delicious local bread from high-altitude bakers, and high alpine ridges. Here you may discover hardy blue sheep in the cliff faces, grazing with yaks and mountain horses, local inhabitants and golden eagles drifting through in thermal winds on the ridge crest. After a tasty lunch in a local cafe in Manang you descend back to your comfy lodge for the evening.

After having a fairly standard uphill trek from the treeline and out of the forests into the crisp, cold alpine tundra, the most pronounced effects of the altitude are at Thorong Phedi, the staging post at 4,600 meters, the air is notably thin and cold. Pastures where yaks graze (Yak Kharkas), small, airy suspension bridges, loose and volatile scree-trails, dry glacial riverbeds will all be encountered. You’ll have lunch in the remote high-rise teahouse in the hamlet of Ledar; then take the biggest meal of the day back in the restaurant at the teahouse inn where you stay the night in Thorong Phedi. You’ll view hordes of yaks eating thinly scattered sparse grassy spots over the frosty slopes and high rises and also Himalayan marmots coming out of the burrows and also a high-fly and also chough fluttering over in the currents high overhead.

Start your day early for one of our most challenging climbs to Thorong La Pass - an altitude that can reach an extreme of 5,416m (the summit). As we climb, enjoy icy moraine trails, fluttering prayer flags, high rock cairns, and snow-capped mountains. Enjoy lunch on packed snacks either at the pass itself, or at a lower tea house in Charabu. We will turn around and make our way down to dinner to stay in the more developed village of Muktinath (3,800m). Look out again along our trek as we pass expedition yaks, Himalayan golden eagle and elusive Himalayan blue sheep clinging to sheer mountainsides up towards the snow.

Your final day ends with an early wake in Muktinath and an incredibly long road journey from there. You may feel high altitude from the first thing up in Muktinath (3,800 meters) and descend to the bottom of Kali Gandaki Gorge as you travel from, seeing dust deserts, windy mountain roads, green hillsides, lively country road towns along the Prithvi Highway. Lunch will take place at the river-side (in Malekhu), and evening at a hotel/local diner in Kathmandu after your trip. You'll spot many pack horses, rural farm cows, village street dogs and close to roadside temples, some monkeys.

Overview

This 17 day Annapurna Circuit Trek is one of the most famous treks in Nepal. This trek takes you as high as 5416 meters to Thorong La Pass and to the Mustang Valley close to the Tibetan border. This trek offers everything you can wish to see in Nepal, from being surrounded by soaring peaks, deep valleys, barren plateaus, snow-fed rivers and culturally rich villages. There is one peak at 8091 meters and 28 others over 6000 meters. The circuit trek is bordered by the Kali Gandaki Gorge, Marsyangdi River & Pokhara in the south.

The Annapurna Circuit Trek opened to trekkers in 1980 and today is heralded as one of the best trekking destinations in the world. The trails will take you through beautiful rhododendron forests in the lower regions of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri mountains. In springtime these trees are covered in white, pink and red blossoms. You will see several huge peaks including Annapurna I, II, III, IV, Dhaulagiri (8167m), Machapuchare (Fish Tail), Annapurna South and Manaslu.

The Annapurna circuit trek is an ideal trek for those who are reasonably fit. The Annapurna trek follows trails through the Kali Gandaki Gorge, the world’ deepest gorge, and to the world’s highest lake, and passes the 300 meter high Rupse Falls. The trail is within the Annapurna Conservation Area and has more than 100 species of orchids, rhododendron forests, sub-tropical marshes, valleys, bamboo and oak forests, alpine glades and hundreds of wildlife species such as Marten, deer, Langur monkey, and the snow leopard – that is secretive and hard to spot. Besides the diversity of flora and fauna, there is the remarkable hospitality of the people in small hamlets, villages and towns along the trek.

The Annapurna Circuit Trek begins and ends at Kathmandu.

Sherpa ExpeditionTeams will arrange trekking permits, meals and accommodation on the trek.

Itinerary

Sherpa Expedition & Trekking staff will be there to greet you at Tribhuvan International Airport and take you to your hotel, followed by a briefing covering information, do’s and don’ts of your trek. Your safety and comfort are paramount.

We leave Kathmandu and drive to Besishar after which we take a fairly easy 2-hour trek to Bulebule located near the Marsyangdi River. Tonight we stay at Bulbule.

Today the trail takes us over several suspension bridges, past cascades, through rice fields and across various slopes. The trek is quite short before reaching Chamje where we stay the night.

Leaving Chame we pass through rhododendron, pine and bamboo forests and  follow the trail through the valley before arriving at Tal and its cultivated farm plots of wheat, potatoes and other grains. After passing through Dharapani we head in a westerly direction via fir and pine forests until we reach Bagarchhap where we stay the night.

From Bagarchhap we continue to the village of  Danaque before climbing to Tamang Village where we are offered magnificent views of Manaslu (8163m), Annapurna and other towering peaks. Our trek takes us through several Tibetan villages, such as trek Thanchowk, Kolo before reaching our destination, Chame.

After leaving Chame we pass through Telekhu and along the trail have some breathtaking views of Annapurna and Pisang (6091m) until we have to re-cross on a suspension bridge to the south bank of the Marsyangdi River. After crossing the river we t head higher passing a pine-forest as we trek through the  upper reaches of the Manang valley to Pisang. Tonight we stay at Pisang.

The town of Pisang is the start of our trek in the upper Manang area. Today we head to Braga, a Tibetan village with its unique architecture with houses constructed one upon the other. One of its main attractions is its Gompa, the largest in the Manang region. Manang is popular with trekkers and is also a place to acclimatize before heading to higher altitudes. We stay here for the night.

Medical professionals recommend that before heading to higher elevations that trekkers spend some time acclimatizing. They also recommend staying active. Today we will climb up to Khangsar (3756m) as a way to further help us acclimatize. Overnight stay at Manang.

Today we head off on a 10.4 km uphill trek to Yak Kharka passing through juniper forests and may see yak grazing in the pastures. On the route, we pass the only teahouse at Thorong Khola. Depending on the conditions we may decide to go a little further and stay the night at Letdar.

Climbing higher we gradually get used to the higher altitude. We follow the east bank of the Jarang Khola and along with the trail view steep bluffs before reaching Thorung Phedi (meaning foothills). If we are lucky we may see the famous blue sheep and even a snow leopard! This is also home to Lammergeyer (bearded vulture). There is also a belief the mythical griffons are in this region!

Today is most likely the toughest day of the trek, hiking for around 7-8 hours. The higher altitude contributes to the degree of difficulty, and sometimes strong winds in these upper regions. Along the trail we may pass sheep, yaks and merchants transporting their goods. Once we reach Thorong La Pass we will be rewarded with breath-taking views of Annapurna, Gangapurna and eye-catching peak of Khatungkang (6484m). Leaving the pass we descend around 1600 metres and the brilliant Dhaulagiri (Dhavali giri, meaning “White Mountain”) is the highest mountain that is entirely in Nepal. The trail is more undulating and relatively easy before we reach Muktinath where we stay the night.

From Muktinath, we pass through lush meadows, fruit trees and streams passing through Kagbeni before we reach Jomson in the Kali Gandaki valley. Kagbeni has a well-deserved reputation for its horticulture industry.

The road trip to Tatopani takes about 5-6 hours dropping into the valley of the Kali Gandaki River, the deepest valley in the world. From Marpha to Kalopani we pass via Chokhopani Village, a typical  Thakali town well know for its unique cuisine. On the drive, you will be stunned by the awesome views of several famous mountains, such as Nilgiri, Dhaulagiri, Tukuche, and Annapurna before reaching tonight’s destination, Tatopani (meaning hot water). You may wish to bath in the hot pools and unwind.

Today we ascend 1670 metres, quite a hard slog, and pass through more cultivated farm land with their terraced fields. We climb through a rhododendron forest, spectacular in spring time, magnolia and of course a panoramic view of the mountains. Tonight we stay at Ghorepani with magical views of the Annapurna Ranges and Machapuchare (fish tail) one of the few unclimbed peaks in Nepal due to its religious status – home to Lord Shiva.

Overview

The 10 Day Annapurna Circuit Trek is one of the most popular treks in Nepal’s Annapurna Conservation Area with its enormous snow-covered mountains, deep gorges & high altitude passes.

This trek circumnavigates the Annapurna Massif and crosses the high altitude Thorong La Pass (5419m) – the highest point on the trek. The trail takes you through the world's deepest gorge – the Kali Gandaki Gorge, and has fantastic views of the massive Mt. Annapurna I (world’s 10th highest - 8091m) and Mt.Dhaulagiri (8167m) to the west – the 7th highest in the world. Several other equally famous Himalayan Mountains are visible on the trek, such as Mt. Manaslu and Himal Chuli.  This area is rich in culture and traditions of the local Gurung and Thakali castes in the Manang District.

This 10 day trek takes you into the very heart of the Annapurna Region and starts at Bhulbhule, then to Chame and to the Pisang Valley. Sherpa Expedition Teams experienced guide will take you to the villages of Manang, Yak Kharka, Thorong Phedi, Thorong La Pass, Muktinath and Pokhara before heading back to Kathmandu.

Sherpa Expedition Teams have an excellent longstanding reputation and will take care of all permits, meals and accommodation on the trek. We will do our best to make this the most enjoyable holiday of your life!

Itinerary

Your guide will collect you from your hotel and then together we take a 7 to 8-hour drive to Bhulbhule, via Besisahar. At Besisahar we register with the local authorities. You will have time to get accustomed to the Nepal countryside before reaching Bhulbhule, located on the banks of the Marsyangdi River where we stay the night.
Breakfast & dinner included.

Our journey today begins with a bus ride of 6 to 7 hours to Chame alongside the Marsyangdi River (150 km in length)  After lunch we head to Jagat, passing Dharapani( 1860 m) where we register at the checkpoint that signals the beginning of the Annapurna trek before heading on to Chame. Chame has a large vibrant bazaar and natural springs situated next to the Marsyangdi River. From this vantage point we can see Annapurna II (7937m), Lamjung Himal (6932m), and looking back you will see Manaslu (8154m) and Peak (7833m). Overnight at Chame Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner included.

After leaving Chame we pass through Telekhu and along the trail have some breathtaking views of Annapurna and Pisang (6091m) until we have to re-cross on a suspension bridge to the south bank of the Marsyangdi River. After crossing the river wet head higher passing a pine-forest as we trek through the upper reach of the Manang valley to Pisang. Tonight we stay at Pisang. Today’s trek is around 5 to 6 hours.
Breakfast, lunch & dinner included.

The town of Pisang is the start of our trek in the upper Manang area. Today we head to Braga; a Tibetan village with its unique architecture with houses constructed one upon the other. One of its main attractions is its Gompa, the largest in the Manang region. Manang is popular with trekkers and is also a place to acclimatize before heading to higher altitudes. We stay here for the night after a long day of 8 to 9 hours trekking.

From Manang you will be blessed with views of Annapurna II; Annapurna III (7555m); Gangapurna (7454 m); and to the south to Tilicho (7132 m); and the Grand Barrier (a 7000m ridge)to the west; Chulu West (6583m) and Chulu East (6059m) meters in the north. After spending the day acclimatizing at Manang we head to Thorong La Pass where the view before you is simply amazing. Yak Kharka. We then descend through Yak Kharka, Tenki leaving the Marsyangdi Valley behind us and cross the Jarsang Khola River on the suspension bridge before reaching today’s destination -Ledar.

Today we trek for 3 to 4 passing the trail where it intersects to Jarsang Khola (4310m) and to Phedi (4420m). From this point, we continue climbing across a pebbly trail until we reach High Camp ( Thorong Phedi 4540m).

Today is the most difficult day of the trek as we head up and through Thorong La Pass, one of the most elevated passes in the region, and especially more difficult because of its elevation. An early morning, 3 a.m. wakeup, will see us on the trail in the fresh morning air. Upon reaching the pass you will appreciate the effort and absorb some of the most breathtaking views of the Himalayan peaks seen on this trek. Your efforts will be well rewarded! To the north is Tibet and to the south the Annapurna Ranges. From here we descend down a steep trail until we reach Muktinath, taking between 3 to 4 hours. Muktinath is holy to Buddhists and is known in Tibetan as Chumig Gyatsa, which in Tibetan means "Hundred Waters".

After leaving Muktinath we head down the valley and eventually end up at the Kali Gandaki River and, then reach Jomson where we can rest while waiting for transport to Tatopani. On the drive, through the valleys, we will be able to see Annapurna and Dhaulagiri massifs and their towering snow-clad peaks. After reaching Tatopani we can relax in the thermal hot springs and watch the nearby river roaring by.

The following day we drive for around 6 hours by jeep, via Beni Bazaar, before reaching Pokhara. This evening you can sit back and relax, enjoy and drink or two and look back on your amazing adventure through the amazing Annapurna Conservation Area – stroll along Lakeside. Other attractions in Pokhara are the World Peace Pagoda (clearly visible across Phewa Tal (lake), , Bindabasini Temple, Phewa Lake, Matepani Buddhist Monastery, International Mountain Museum and Devi's Falls.

Today we head back on a 6 to 7 hour drive to Kathmandu with many fond memories of Nepal and its unique culture and geography. These memories will last a lifetime!

8 Days Annapurna Circuit Trek

Short Annapurna Circuit is a refined high-altitude trek for the fit traveler with little holiday and big ambition and for those who want an excellent, efficient, and safe Thorong La crossing with the short but balanced itinerary. This short version has been deliberately configured for limited vacation time, providing you with the optimum and efficient trail ratio with proper acclimatization for maximum safety.  This trail is tailored for the "experienced trekkers" and "safety-conscious trekkers" who know what trekking at high-altitude trekking entails and are prepared for high altitude treks, but don't want the severe, excessive risks of extremely physically demanding trips, and would appreciate a Chame start and Pokhara ending with all the advantages a world-class tour can offer.

Who is this for? Experienced trekkers and fit people who seek a truncated but equitable Annapurna Circuit, trekkers who have very limited vacation, trekkers who need the best acclimatization, trekkers and climbers who aim at crossing the renowned and iconic Thorong La Pass and finally those who, after the trek, want their end destination in Pokhara. This short but balanced itinerary is distinct from any other in as much as it starts at the foothills at Chame and involves proper rest and Manang acclimatization.

Go in the stunning Marsyangdi Valley, up to Chame (to avoid the dirty and low altitude road going through the mountain landscapes), then hike through classic solid stone Buddhist villages while also enjoying Himalayan mountain views, mainly dominated by Annapurna Massif. We go higher into the beautiful valley called Manang Valley, where we have to stay for acclimatization at Manang. Then we continue our ascent to the  high alpine pastures named Yak Kharka and ascend high up toward Thorong Phedi. The next morning we reach the real Thorong La Pass and begin crossing it, at the high altitude of over 5,416 meters, the amazing high pass, and proceed towards the Mustang landscapes. Upon visiting the revered temple of Muktinath at Mustang and passing through Jomsom, you complete your journey with a hassle-free transfer to Pokhara which is a satisfying conclusion to some unforgettable Himalayan adventure.

Note:

It would be wrong to book the trek without first of all contemplating the trekking that suits your desired style of trip and personal level of fitness. Please note: This itinerary is absolutely not for trekkers aiming for the 'classic long circuit', nor does this option fit for the 'extreme 6-day trekking challenge' that involves zero essential rest stops. It is also not the trek for anyone who explicitly wishes to do a 'Kathmandu to Kathmandu trip', since it has a different logistical ending. This is not recommended for a novice who has no experience of trekking and with no acclimatization, or for someone who desires to have an easy trip.

8 Day Annapurna Circuit Trek Highlights

  • Fast-track Chame starting point - skips low elevation dirt roads and drops you off directly at the starting point in beautiful high mountain valleys, starting the high altitude trekking and riding portion of your trip high in the Himalayas.
  • Separate Manang Acclimatization Day (3,540m) - gives you ample time to get your body used to the thinner air without altitude sickness before you head into the upper alpine regions.
  • Epic Thorong La Pass Crossing (5,416m) - the highest point of the loop where trekkers enjoy the best viewpoint of the impressive glaciers and enormous peaks of the high Himalayas.
  • Witness sacred Muktinath and Mustang areas where trekkers can experience temples significant in pilgrimage coming from the dry desert land of high Mustang (of the Himalayas’ rainy shadow).
  • High altitude treks of Annapurna region – trekking via the dramatic valleys of Marsyangdi full of gorges and rivers, with pine trees on steep hilltops.
  • A Panoramic Vista – Fantastic views of giant peaks from a height that leaves one breathless. The most spectacular and sweeping panoramas, including Gangapurna, Dhaulagiri I, II, III, IV, Tilicho and the magnificent Annapurna I range itself.
  • High Altitude Landscape Adventure - Trekking into the high Himalayas, crossing bare alpine deserts, windy plateaus, sweeping glaciers and a vast expanse of glacier debris and bleak high mountain passes, to high altitude Himalayan alpine zones.
  • Mountain and Cultural Discovery – Walk past ancient, ever-living Gurung and Manangi Buddhist cultures, ancient stone villages with colourful Buddhist prayer wheels and centuries-old living, breathing traditions, and immerse yourself in them through your trek to the high mountain zones of Nepal.
  • Relaxing Pokhara Trek Ending - The trek smoothly culminates at the lakeside, in the relaxation zone, after a hard push through the Himalayan high altitude terrain.

8 Days Annapurna Circuit Trek Itinerary

At your hotel in Kathmandu after an early morning breakfast, we start our long overland scenic drive westward in Prithvi Highway following the Trishuli and Marsyangdi rivers and we experience the amazing life of rural roadside towns (Malekhu, Dumre, Besisahar). Lunch is enjoyed on the way in a highway restaurant near Besisahar. After that, we change for a tough 4 Wheel Drive mountain jeep, heading up towards the high altitude through a terraced field, waterfall and cliff side remote village such as Syange, and Dharapani in between and we reach the remote village called Chame. Later you will be served with a delicious dinner at your teahouse and overnight stay in Chame.

Rise to a hot breakfast at your teahouse at approximately 7:00 A.M. And set out along the Marsyangdi River valley. Wander through dense pine and rhododendron forests, coming across traditional stoned villages of Bhratang as well as daring suspension bridges. Look up at the magnificent curve of the Paungda Danda rock cliff hovering above the valley. You stop for lunch in the teahouse close to Dhukur Pokhari, which is simple and minimalistic, but quite charming. The valley floor becomes broader and enters alpine area as you proceed towards your destination, where you may be able to watch herds of Himalayan Tahr feeding along high ledges.

You’ll spend the night at your teahouse in Upper or Lower Pisang, enjoying an evening of spectacular views of Pisang Peak and beyond.

After an early morning breakfast overlooking Annapurna II, you set off and trek through the drier, windy conditions of the upper Marsyangdi Valley. You pass traditional stone-built villages such as Humde and Geru, you see stone Mani walls, prayer wheels which are spun by the local population and various Chortens scattered along the trail. A local lunch is taken en route at one of the trail lodges in Humde or Mugje.

Soaring Eagles and Himalayan griffons can often be seen in the thermal air currents above. As evening approaches you reach the lively village of Manang perched high in the valley. You are allocated to a teahouse lodge, the lodge is warm and cosy and the evening meal is eaten. Following dinner you spend the night as the following day will be an acclimatization day.

Today will not be a rush of miles but will be a more active morning to reach high elevation. Breakfast can be at your leisure at your teahouse in Manang. Following "climb high and sleep low" rules, you will take an afternoon trek to view Gangapurna Lake and/or hike to the Chongkor viewpoint, or a trek toward Praken Gompa in the early afternoon, where views open out over the Annapurna Massif and Gangapurna Glacier.

Lunch in Manang at a bakery/teahouse. Spend your afternoon wandering through the town of Manang past traditional stonewalls, enjoy a visit to the old heritage museum, or participate in the day’s evening medical lecture on altitude sickness in altitude training facilities. Dinner and overnight in your teahouse in Manang.

After a hearty breakfast at Manang, your day hike begins: It gradually ascends from the main valley and passes the tree line to alpine scrubland. You will cross the stream and pass the stone huts of Tenki Manang and ascend to open pastures. Lunch will be at the isolated trailside teahouse at Ghunsang. You climb further up in the thin air and reach the major grazing pastures where you will often see loads of domesticated yak and blue sheep (Bharal) clinging to the steep mountain faces. You will reach Yak Kharka early enough to relax your legs and have your dinner with an overnight stay at your teahouse.

Morning breakfast at around 7.30 AM, then we embark on a short day hike with a strenuous walk toward the base of the pass, traversing through an alpine landscape, a suspension bridge over Thorong Khola, and a rockfall terrain. We stop for lunch on the way at Ledar or at the arrival time at Thorong Phedi in this high, remote landscape where we look for mountain pikas and snow pigeons around the rocks. We arrive in early afternoon at Thorong Phedi (or High camp) to rest, remain hydrated and get our day pack ready for the day's great climb. We have an early dinner and an early sleep tonight.

You start early at dawn, at 4 am after your lodge breakfast, to hike up for about 5 hours under stars; a tough zigzag climbing route takes you to the famous 5,416m Thorong La Pass adorned by colourful flags; you can feast on panoramas of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges from a top before clicking copious photos and beginning an intense downhill trail towards Mustang. You will have a late lunch in charabu/first couple of tea-shops of Ranipauwa. Afterwards, hike down to the sacred pilgrimage site called Muktinath, which includes a visit to the very holy Muktinath temple, enjoy your congratulatory dinner and have the soundest sleep you will experience in Muktinath.

You start your last day with a quiet morning breakfast at Mustang Mountain views with the backdrop of dry lands. You take a scenic road down through the Kali Gandaki Valley-which holds title of the world’s deepest gorge-including the apple-growing villages, i.e. Jomsom, Marpha, Lete and Tatopani, including a lunch stop. As we descend, the dry, barren land changes to lush sub-tropical hills till you get on the highway to Pokhara. By late afternoon, you will be in Pokhara. Your trekking formally concludes at Phewa Lakeside for some evening rest and overnight in Pokhara.

6 Days Annapurna Circuit Trek

Short Annapurna Circuit Trek is a mountain trek package with a hard expedition, designed for serious high altitude trekkers, physically fit expedition trekkers, or repeat Himalayan trekkers with very little trekking vacation time. This very extreme short itinerary is made only for trekkers who have already done hard treks (experienced trekkers only) in the Himalayas, because the trek itinerary reaches high altitude in Annapurna Conservation Area fast bypassing the comfort of easier days. This will definitely save you a lot of time on holiday and will take you to the highest point within the limited holiday time you have. It is for trekkers looking for a compact Annapurna Circuit Trek, those ready for the fastest altitude gain and who wish to reach Thorong La Pass within their time and budget on this Short Annapurna Circuit trek, and those who are already aware of the high altitude risk.

Who is it for? This short trip has been designed to provide a brief experience for hikers with 4,500/5,000+ meters of experience, mountain endurance runners who can maintain the best shape possible, and professional hikers with a schedule constraint.

Who is this trip not for? The physical difficulty of this route is not suitable for beginners, inexperienced Himalaya travellers or travellers who have below par fitness levels. It is absolutely not recommended for travellers who want a gentle journey of the Annapurna Circuit, people who want to do gradual acclimatisation or those travellers who have less experience of high altitudes.

A rugged direct Kathmandu to Chame drive whisks you away, with low-level walking for days before heading straight into the higher mountain valley above Chame. You then continue on a trek through, past Manang, encountering Gurung villages and experiencing local Manang culture interwoven with rich Tibetan Buddhist culture. Since it has a direct approach to the high mountain, there is no Manang acclimatisation stay, and participants can feel much more rapid altitude gain en route to the higher alpine. Amongst the Annapurna massif, including Annapurna I, Annapurna II, Annapurna III and finally Annapurna IV besides beautiful views of Dhaulagiri and Nilgiri, you will prepare for the most significant moment in your high mountain endeavour – safe Thorong La Pass crossing at an elevation of 5,416 metres. Later you descend to Muktinath to visit the sacred shrine Muktinath Temple, proceeding through Jomsom, and concluding with a fast Muktinath to Pokhara drive to Pokhara, before finally driving to Kathmandu.

6 Days Annapurna Circuit Trek Itinerary

Your Annapurna Circuit trek in Nepal starts with the first days in the Annapurna region. After an exciting scenic and rough drive, the trail leaves Kathmandu towards the mountain passes of the Annapurna, prior to ascending sharply from below near Besisahar. After the road journey to Chame, the air turns cold and most of the high land will be felt.

Pass through the deep gorges of rivers, the cascading waterfalls as you continue along the narrow dirt roads, and pass through rice paddy terraces and the rural mountain settlements in hillsides.

Lunch will take place at a highway restaurant after Besisahar, dinner in a cozy guesthouse in Chame. You'll see various farm animals and local creatures that can be seen along the way, such as stray dogs, local farm animals and pack mules carrying cargo along the dirt track, and monkeys in the trees of the lower altitude jungle areas, as you enjoy this incredible scenic mountain journey.

The cool mountain air will refresh you and as the first section of this trek takes you down towards the wild Marsyangdi River you'll trek through pine and rhododendron forests. Altitude will first be really noticeable when the path starts climbing to Pisang Village (3300m) where the climb isn't long, and the following short descent from 3350m takes you down to 3300m. You'll travel over immense curved walls of stone, old carved mani walls, prayer wheels and many traditional stone homes as you ascend up to where a trailside teahouse within Dhukur Pokhari affords you lunch, before you stay for dinner at your teahouse in Pisang. The forest has a sharp scent of pine to it, and along the route it becomes a usual thing for travellers to observe large, heavily loaded pack mules to their fore and rear, browsing farm goats, nervous-looking, hidden musk deer lurking deep in their thorn-covered homes; you'll also see a multitude of colourful mountain birds fluttering among the trees.

Today begins with a pleasant hike through the unique dry rainshadow country of Upper Manang Valley. At approximately 3,500 meters your acclimatisation will finally catch up as you walk to the remote, high altitude, ancient village of Manang.

You’ll visit several ancient Buddhist monasteries as well as walk among the characteristic flat roofed mud houses. You’ll see some very old chortens (Buddhist shrines) too with great views over this vast valley.

Enjoy a lovely lunch in a friendly teahouse in the village of Humde then share your final meal together at a wood fired dining room in Manang. Along the wide expanse of this valley’s floor there are often yaks and pikas around while there are often horses inside their stone walls and high up flying the big lammergeier vultures.

As you gradually climb up from the tree lines, you will start walking with the views of the highest mountains and reach the beautiful high mountain Tundras. The altitude here will be the most significant one when we arrive at the 4,600 meter point which is known as “Thorong Phedi”. Here we have to pass through some natural attractions such as Yak Kharka grazing fields, suspension bridges swaying in the wind, loose scree fields, and Dry glacial River beds. You will eat lunch at a basic alpine teahouse at Ledar village and dinner at your teahouse lodging in Thorong Phedi. Grazing yaks, Himalayan marmots scampering out from their burrows, and alpine choughs circling in wind currents can all be observed on these barren, cold slopes.

Start your morning with a freezing climb up to the formidable Thorong La Pass. Altitude bites hardest here, peaking on the pass’ summit of 5,416m above sea level.

Pass through icy moraine trails, fluttering prayer flag monuments, high rock cairns, and sweeping snowcapped mountain ranges. Have a packed lunch from either the pass or down at the bottom teahouse in Charabu and a rewarding dinner down at 3,800 m Muktinath. Along snow covered walks and rocky descents look for yaks. Watch Golden eagles on the wing and be sure to watch out for the rarely spotted Himalayan Blue sheep as they clatter down ravines on rocky descents.

After a morning tour to visit the holy Muktinath Temple Complex, journey back down from high altitude gains (our highest altitude gain will be achieved today when we go down from the temple complex at Muktinath starting at an elevation of 3800m). Today’s trek takes us on a very long journey down from our high altitude towards our destination city of Pokhara, descending into tropical/sub-tropical lower altitudes.

As you go down the dusty Kali Gandaki Valley, experience huge deep gorges along with the apple orchards of Marpha, terraced steep hills, and lunch at Tatopani at a wayside restaurant. After a long way down to Pokhara, you reach this beautiful city and take dinner at some cosy little restaurant on the lakeside. You can come across loaded ponies on the pathways, local stray bulls along the way, stray dogs, and town ducks.

Annapurna Circuit Trek full package  is an all-inclusive, fully organized complete Nepal trekking package for global travelers, especially those who are planning a trip to Nepal, focusing on the Annapurna Circuit expedition. Structured as a smoothly organized trekking itinerary, this guided Annapurna Circuit makes trekking hassle-free by offering complete management of your travel, including Kathmandu arrival and departure, and all Kathmandu logistics. Particularly suited for first-time Nepal visitors, Annapurna Circuit couples, and private groups to Annapurna with a specific vacation timetable, for those who desire to let others manage all the travel arrangements. So, this trek is a full-service trekking package with trek guide and porter services included.

Who is it for? This comprehensive package is suitable for internationals traveling to Nepal with the sole purpose of completing the Annapurna Circuit, those who need an arrival/departure package into/from Kathmandu, and travelers in need of a fully serviced trek package. This trip is also for those individuals who want a trekking itinerary instead of making individual logistic arrangements independently, and those who prefer Kagbeni/Jomsom and Mustang travel experience. Other itineraries lack the integration that this route features, complete logistic package into/out of the country arranged for internationals, overnight at both Kagbeni village and Jomsom village, full guide and porter support, full Annapurna expedition with arrival and departure support.

Begin the trip with a smooth Kathmandu Airport reception and assistance, then begin your overland adventure to Chame. Journey trekking through the rustic mountain villages of the rich Buddhist cultures from Chame, through the breathtaking Manang Valley with Annapurna Massif views, to prepare for a pre-dawn hike via sub-alpine valleys to Thorong Phedi. Walk along the striking and renowned Thorong La Pass (5,416m), enjoying lovely views all along the Himalayan landscapes. Afterwards, descend to the sacred region of Mustang until you arrive in the holy region of Muktinath and journey through the ancient Kagbeni to Jomsom and the final destination, Pokhara, concluding the best Himalayan trekking experience harmoniously.

Note:

As a first step, you should check if this inclusive package meets your travel needs and arrangements. Please note that this package is not for trekkers who are on a tight schedule and do not need transport to airport/city transfers/hotel stays. Trekkers who make their own transport arrangements should also not book this package, and equally, this package is not suited for hardcore hikers/trekkers on a super brisk 6-7 day trekking challenge that eliminates standard rest day arrangements in the trek. This trek will also not serve trekkers wishing for the very shortest Annapurna Circuit trek, or just a Chame-Pokhara trekking package, while still missing the airport/urban arrival/departure/transfer support in the capital.

Annapurna Circuit Trek Itinerary for 9 Days

Upon leaving customs, you will be met by our airport representatives, who will transport you to the hotel. Our representative will have you check us into your hotel rooms, and you will be able to enjoy a late lunch or a snack at your hotel. Then you would be free till the evening. You can also explore the local shops around or just relax after this long flight. In the evenings, you can join up for a short briefing about treks with our trekking guides before enjoying a nice meal of traditional Nepali cuisine along with some cultural performances in the evening. We shall be spending our nights here in Kathmandu town so that we get enough rest before the journey starts. Lunch and Dinner is not part of the package so that you can explore on your own.

You get the day off to an early start with a hot breakfast at your hotel before embarking on a long drive west overland on the Prithvi Highway. This highway runs alongside the Trishuli and Marsyangdi Rivers, before you reach exciting highway stopovers such as Malekhu and Dumre, to arrive in Besisahar for a trailside lunch. In Besisahar you board a private 4WD vehicle, as you will need this for the difficult mountain road ahead. You will see waterfalls and villages on your way to higher ground to reach Chame, travelling past several more villages and waterfalls. Soon you start to notice the effects of higher altitude, with slight headaches or breathlessness. You check into a lodge house in Chame. As you are at 2,760m, some mild symptoms of altitude may be felt.

After a hearty breakfast at your Chame lodge, you set out for the first full day of your trek following the powerful Marsyangdi River along pine covered trails passing the apple orchards of Bhratang. You cross a formidable suspension bridge and look back at the concave stone of Paungda Danda above. Lunch is served by the trail at Dhukur Pokhari, a lodge situated next to our trail passing where you can observe a good number of Himalayan Tahr high on cliffs. Afterwards, the valley broadens considerably as we approach Lower or Upper Pisang. Following on from this, your evening is spent and dinner taken in your Pisang lodge beneath the shadow of Pisang Peak.

Enjoying your cooked breakfast with a clear mountain view of Annapurna II, you move up into the arid Manang Valley. You pass some truly traditional stone-built villages like Humde and Geru. You hike past etched mani walls, as well as chortens and prayer wheels, all en route, with lunch at a teahouse in Humde. In the rocky and arid areas you may observe griffon and Himalayan eagles flying overhead as well. By early afternoon you reach the remote, high-altitude gateway of Manang (3,500m), which crosses the 3,000m mark as you begin to get familiar with a light-headed feeling, reduced appetite, and mild sleeplessness, etc. You stay, eat dinner, and spend the night at a lodge in Manang.

Today commences early after a final morning meal in Manang, before embarking on a prolonged and gradual incline into high alpine landscapes. You leave the timberline behind as you pass through alpine meadows beyond the charming villages of Tenki Manang and Ghunsang. You can take lunch during the journey, and you may have the opportunity to watch for grazing blue sheep on sheer mountainsides. Crossing a suspension bridge over the Thorong Khola, you reach your day's destination. Thorong Phedi (4,600m) is an altitude where you can experience physiological altitude effects: oxygen deprivation to your bloodstream causes severe throbbing head pain and often nausea and an obvious loss of energy. It will be a good time to receive a close assessment of your oxygen levels from your guide. You will have your dinner early this day, and you will spend an overnight stay in Thorong Phedi ahead of the big pass to come.

Today is the highlight day. At 4:00 AM, you rise from bed to a special morning wake-up call, followed by an early breakfast. You start your ascent over steep and icy trails under moonlight to cross the mighty Thorong La Pass, 5,416 meters, beautifully decked with prayer flags.

At this height, you should expect the physiological stress to peak, with extreme breathlessness or difficulty breathing heavily on this arduous day. After taking a snapshot at the top of this long and high pass, we traverse the route downward through the steep terrain toward Mustang. A late lunch, along with a visit to the sacred Temple of Muktinath, is on the way. After reaching there, you will hop into a local jeep and drive to the famous town of Jomsom, concluding the evening with a delicious and hearty dinner and overnight stay.

A peaceful morning meal in the company of Jomsom's dry, rocky scenery, and then you hop into an overland jeep which drives all the way through the Kali Gandaki Gorge, the deepest gorge in the world, passing historical Mustang villages such as Marpha, Lete, etc. You will stop for lunch at a local hotel in Tatopani. As we descend in elevation, any altitude symptoms gradually fade away. The lofty desert gradually turns greener towards the semi-tropical zone, and then the paved road starts at the highway to Pokhara. Then, upon reaching Pokhara, hotel check-in, have lakeside dinner, then overnight and rest.

Breakfast with views by Lake Fewa. We'll take a scenic vehicle trip back to Kathmandu in Tourist bus or Private Jeep on the Prithvi Highway – passing lush, terraced farmland, rushing rivers and Nepali hamlets before we complete the journey to arrive in your Kathmandu hotel late this afternoon. You'll have a late supper then be at your own disposal for souvenir shopping at your pace or for a final coffee in a cozy cafe while perusing any recent purchases you have made to take home with you. We'll then embark for your farewell dinner. Overnight in Kathmandu.

Your last morning can be spent at your Kathmandu hotel enjoying your final breakfast, with some downtime or packing up if your departure is due sometime in the morning. The drive to Kathmandu International Airport is provided 3 hours prior to departure. All our staff will see you off to the airport, with a pleasant goodbye to be carried in your memory, and a heart full of remembrance for Nepal and the Himalayas, as your 9-Day Annapurna Circuit Trek comes to an end.

Itinerary

Upon arrival at Kathmandu Tribhuvan International Airport, you will be met by a Sherpa Expedition & Trekking representative and taken by private vehicle to your hotel. After checking in at the hotel, you will be briefed on what to expect on your trek and given an itinerary. With time to spare you can wander around the tourist hub of Thamel or take in the sights of Kathmandu Valley. No meals included on this day.

Today’s road trip crosses several rivers, the Trishuli River – where you may see people rafting and the Marsyangdi River close to Chame. Our first destination is Besisahar and then finally to Chame. This is a good opportunity to take in the local scenery and get a feel for what lies ahead of your trek.

Leaving Chame we pass through the village of Telekhu and on the trail have some wonderful views of the Annapurna Ranges and Mt. Pisang (6091m) until we have to re-cross a suspension bridge to the south side of the Marsyangdi River. After crossing the river we ascend and pass a pine-forest following the trail through the upper reaches of the Manang Valley before arriving at Pisang.

Pisang is the start of our trek in the upper Manang area. Today we trek to Braga; a Tibetan village with its distinctive architecture and houses constructed one upon the other. One of Manang’s main attractions is its Gompa, being the largest in the Manang region. Manang is also popular with trekkers who stay here in order to acclimatize before heading to higher altitudes.

Health and climbing professionals recommend that before heading to higher elevations that trekkers should spend some time acclimatizing. They also strongly recommend staying active. From Manang you will have some great views of Annapurna II; Annapurna III (7555m); Gangapurna (7454 m); and to the south to Tilicho (7132 m); and the Grand Barrier (a 7000m ridge) to the west; Chulu West (6583m) and Chulu East (6059m) to the north. In order to better acclimatize to these higher altitudes, we will trek up to Mt. Khangsar (3756m) and then return to Manang.

Today we have a 10.4 km uphill trek to Yak Kharka passing through juniper forests and along the trail will see yak grazing in these alpine pastures. On the route, we also pass the only teahouse at Thorong Khola (river). Depending on the weather and trail conditions we may decide to go a little further and stay the night at Ledar.

As we slowly ascend higher our body progressively gets used to the higher altitude. We follow along the east bank of the Jarang Khola (river) and view steep bluffs before reaching Thorong Phedi (meaning foot-hills). We may also decide to follow the trail for one more hour to High Camp (4800m). If we are fortunate we will see the famous blue sheep and possibly a snow leopard! This is also home to Lammergeyer (bearded vulture). There is also a belief legendary griffons are in this region!

Today is probably going to be one of the most physically demanding days of the trek, hiking for between 8 and 9 hours. The higher altitude certainly makes it more difficult, and sometimes the strong winds in these upper regions make it harder too. Along the trail, we might pass sheep, yaks, and merchants transporting their goods by Yak or donkey. Once we reach Thorong La Pass we will have some truly amazing views of Annapurna, Gangapurna, and the eye-catching peak of Khatungkang (6484m). Crossing the pass we then descend about 1600 meters. Dhaulagiri (Dhavali Giri, meaning “White Mountain”) and the highest mountain that is entirely in Nepal is also visible. The trail is more undulating and quite easy before coming to Muktinath. After we reaching muktinath we will take a sharing Jeep or Bus drive to Jomsom for overnight stay.

Today we drive to Pokhara by local bus on a 7-8 hour journey, firstly arriving at Tatopani via Beni Bazaar and then on to Pokhara. Pokhara is famous for its lake – Phew Tal, and is popular with travelers. It has all the facilities of a small city. Your hotel will be by “Lakeside”. You may wish to watch the sunset over the lake and the mountains. It is a great way to end the day and relax.

Today we head back on a 6 to 7 hour drive to Kathmandu with many warm memories of Nepal and its unique culture, village people and geography. These memories will be with you for a long time - and as you look back on them they will put a smile on your face.

Today is your last day in Nepal and Sherpa Expedition and Trekking will take you to the airport at least three hours prior to your scheduled departure time. On your flight home, you can start planning your next adventure in Nepal.

Itinerary

We have a fairly long drive to where our trek begins. This is a good time to sit back and take in the sights of the changing countryside; rivers, terraced farmlands and views of the stunning Himalayan Mountains. Tonight we will stay at a guesthouse.

Today we start out by crossing the river and then head up to a ridge where we follow the trail to Tal, the first village in the Manang region. Just before Tal we pass a waterfall. We will stay overnight at Tal.

Today we trek along a broad flat valley and then climb a stone stairway to 1860 meters. The trail is then undulating until we reach Dharapani at 1890 meters. We then arrive at the Tibetan village of Danakyu with its characteristic flat stone roofed houses.

This morning we follow a rough and rocky trail and climb to Timang at 2750 meters and through a forest close to the river before coming to the village of Kopar at 2590 meters. Next we come to Chame, the headquarters of the Manang district from where we can see Annapurna II and two hot springs close to the village.

We walk through a steep and narrow valley from where we have our first views of Paungda Danda, a massive curved rock face soaring 1500 meters vertically up from the river bed. From here we can look up to the gigantic Annapurna II and Pisang Peak. We then head down to Manang Valley. Tonight we will stay at a guest house in Pisang.

Today we enter the upper Manang region that begins at Pisang. Today we head to Braga; a Tibetan village with its characteristic architecture and houses built one upon the other. One of the main features here is its Gompa (Tibetan Buddhist temple), the largest in the entire Manang region. Manang is also a popular place for trekkers and is a good place to acclimatize before heading to higher altitudes. We will stay here overnight.

Health care professionals recommend that before heading to higher altitudes trekkers acclimatize. They also strongly recommend that you stay active during this period. Today we will climb up to Mt. Khangsar (3756m) as a means of acclimatizing. We will stay the night at Manang.

Today we have a 10.4 km ascent to Yak Kharka on a trail that passes through juniper forests. On the trail it is possible we will come across yak grazing in these high alpine pastures. We will also pass the only teahouse at Thorong Khola. Depending on the weather conditions and how energetic we feel we may decide to trek a little further and stay overnight at Letdar.

The trail initially descends and crosses the river at 4310 meters and then we have to climb up to Phedi at 4450 meters. At High Camp (4700m) there are several good guest houses where we can stay.

Today is one of the toughest days on the trek as we hike for up to 8 hours. The higher altitude also makes it more hard going with less oxygen and the possibility of very strong winds in these alpine regions. On the trail we may pass sheep, yaks and merchants transporting their goods on mules or on their backs. At Thorong La Pass we will have incredible views of Annapurna, Gangapurna and the distinct peak of Khatungkang (6484m). We then descend for around 1600 metres and along the trail can expect to have views of Dhaulagiri (Dhavali giri, meaning “White Mountain”), the highest mountain that is wholly within the borders of Nepal. The trail is less challenging as we head to Muktinath where we stay overnight.

This morning we head downhill to the Kaligandaki River and then follow a road taking a jeep or bus to a bus to Tatopani where we will stay the night.

This morning we head to Pokhara in a Local Bus with a break for lunch along the way.

On the last day of our journey, we head back to Kathmandu through the mountain passes and across rivers until we arrive at Kathmandu. Tonight Sherpa Expedition Teams will host a farewell dinner at a local Nepali restaurant. This is a chance to say your farewells to your guide and fellow trekkers.

This amazing and very popular 18-day trek on the Annapurna Circuit begins in Kathmandu and takes you through the Annapurna Conservation Area, visiting unique culturally rich Tibetan Buddhist Gurung and Magar villages, along trails bounded by magnolia and rhododendron forests. You will follow the route of early traders along the old salt route, be surrounded by soaring snow-capped peaks, witness unique flora and fauna before finally returning to Kathmandu. All accommodation, meals, and transport are included in the price!

Trekking to the Annapurna circuit is a true classic trek in Annapurna Region! Trekkers from all around the world have hailed it as one of the best trekking in the world with its explore to Thorong La Pass, amazing mountain vistas and pristine areas of natural beauty. There are certainly challenges along the way to reach our highest point of the trek elevation at 5416 meters; the Thorong La Pass is a tough feat but believes us when we say, it is worth the effort! When we witness the panoramic views of the mighty Himalayas and experience the warm welcome from the local people, you will surely agree with us 18 Days Annapurna Circuit trek is not to be missed.

This 18-day trek takes you to the districts of Manang and Mustang, the only Nepali districts “across” the Himalayas and completely surrounded by the Annapurna Range. We follow the Marsyangdi River from the Beshisahar, all the way to Thorong La Phedi, crossing its crystal, icy waters many times on impressive suspension bridges.

Sherpa Expedition & Trekking will ensure your safety and comfort at all times to make this an enjoyable adventure into the wilds of the Annapurna region.

Itinerary

A representative from Sherpa Expedition Teams will be there to meet you at the airport and take you to your hotel in Thamel, followed by a briefing covering information about the trek. Tonight you will stay at a 3-star hotel in Thamel.

Today we first head to Besisahar and will then take a jeep to Syange. This drive gives you to introduce you to the terrain and give you a taste of what to expect along the trail. From Syange we will have an easy trek to Jagat.

The first leg of our trek today takes us to the village of Chamje. Along the trail we pass over the river on a suspension bridge and trek through an oak forest before coming out in a valley. We then pass through Kodo before coming to Dharapani.

Today we follow a mule trail through oak and maple forest. On the trail you will have some great mountain views before arriving at Chame.

This morning we pass through the village of Telekhu and on the trail have some wonderful views of Annapurna and Pisang (6091m) until we have to re-cross the river on a suspension bridge to the south bank of the Marsyangdi River. We then ascend passing through a pine forest as we trek through the upper reaches of the Manang valley to Pisang.

Pisang is where our trek in the upper Manang region begins. Today we first head to Braga; a Tibetan village with its distinctive architecture and houses constructed one upon the other. One of the main features here is its Gompa (temple), the largest in the entire Manang region. Manang is also a popular stopping off point with trekkers and is also the perfect place to acclimatize before heading higher.

Medical professionals vigorously recommend that before heading higher that trekkers spend time acclimatizing. They also suggest that you are active during this period. Today we will head up to Khangsar (3756m) as a way to assist us in the acclimatization process. We will stay overnight at Manang.

This morning we start out on a 10.4 km ascent to Yak Kharka passing through juniper forests along the way. On the trail we may see yak grazing in these alpine pastures. We will pass the only teahouse on this leg of the route at Thorong Khola. Depending on the weather conditions and energy levels of us trekkers we may decide to go a little further and stay overnight at the village of Letdar.

We gradually get used to the higher altitudes as we follow the trail along the east bank of the Jarang Khola (river) and on the trail come across some steep bluffs before coming to Thorong Phedi (meaning foothills). If we are lucky we may see blue sheep and possibly the very secretive snow leopard. This is also home to Lammergeyer (bearded vulture). There is also a belief that the mythical griffons inhabit this region (a mythical creature with a lion’s body and bird’s head).

Today is going to be a tough day on the trail as we trek for around 7 to 8 hours at higher altitudes. There are also strong winds in these upper regions that make it harder going too. Along the trail, we may pass sheep, yaks and merchants transporting their goods on their backs or on mules. At Thorong La Pass we will have some breathtaking views of Annapurna, Gangapurna and the distinct eye-catching peak of Khatungkang (6484m). We then descend for about 1600 meters. We can also see Mt. Dhaulagiri, (Dhavali giri, meaning “White Mountain”) the highest mountain that is entirely within the borders of Nepal. The trail is more undulating and less hard going as we head to Muktinath where we stay overnight.

The trail today follows the deepest gorge in the world - the Kali Gandaki Valley to Marpha. Marpha is home to many apple orchids and is where they have a reputation for making great apple brandy, apple cider and other drinks. This is a great place to stop for the night and sample a few products!

Today we continue along the trail along the banks next to the Kali Gandaki River to Ghasa.

Today we trek through the Magar village of Kopchepani and continue through the Kali Gandaki River valley to Tatopani (meaning hot/water in Nepali). This is an ideal place to sit back in these therapeutic hot springs and unwind.

Today you can wander around the village and explore the nearby countryside, or hop back in the hot springs and relax.

Today we have a long trek and first, come to the villages of Ghara and Shikhar after crossing a suspension bridge over the Kali Gandaki River. We then head through the lush forest and several other villages until we arrive at Ghorepani. On the trail, we have stunning views of Dhaulagiri, Annapurna, and other snow-covered peaks of the Annapurna Mountain range.

In the very early hours of the morning, we trek the short distance to Poon hill to watch the sunrise over the mountains. This is truly an amazing and unforgettable scene that will leave you breathless. As dawn approaches the change in colors will have your camera going crazy as you snap away at the ever-changing scenes of the sun rising over the Annapurnas, Dhaulagiri, and its other snow-capped peaks. This is without a doubt one of the best places in Nepal to capture mountain views. We then descend to Ghorepani for breakfast and then have a 5-hour descent to Nayapul. The first part of this trail to Tikhedhunga is very steep, and then we pass terraced fields for several hours before arriving at Nayapul from where we leave by bus for Pokhara.

Today we take the bus back to Kathmandu. On arrival, you will be taken to your hotels in Thamel. You can spend the remainder of the day wandering the narrow winding streets and catch up on some last-minute shopping. You may also decide to find a lovely café or bar to celebrate the completion of your epic mountain journey.

A representative from Sherpa Expedition Teams will take you to the airport at least 3 hours prior to your departure. On your way home you may already be planning your next adventure to this stunning mountainous country.
